The Subject Experts reflected on the importance and wide application of Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics in various fields of engineering and science including medical science.

An expert lecture has been delivered on 26 March 2022 on the topic “SUSTAINABLE DESIGNS OF HVAC SYSTEMS IN COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS” through Online mode by Mr. Adil Inam Sb, Business Manager, Intercol Bahrain organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Z. H. College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Association with ASHRAE AMU Student Chapter. The program was started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mr. Mohammad Ahmad (ASHRAE AMU Student member). Further, Prof M. Muzammil (Chairperson, Department of Mechanical Engineering) warmly welcome the guest speaker and gave a detailed introduction of the guest speaker. He also discussed the importance of HVAC Systems and Sustainability.

An Online Faculty Development & Executive Program (FDEP) on Emerging Trends in Mechanical Engineering (ETME) was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Z. H. College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The online FDEP was conducted from March 07-11, 2022. The event was coordinated by Dr. Danish Iqbal, Dr. Mohd Shaaban Hussain, and Dr. Farhan Ahmad Shamim (Department of Mechanical Engineering, ZHCET, AMU). The inaugural Session was hosted by Dr. Iqbal. Dr. Shamim provided a detailed introduction of the FDEP and welcome the dignitaries, participants, and resource persons. The dignitaries were Prof. M. Muzammil (Chairperson, Department of Mechanical Engineering, AMU), Prof. M. M. Sufyan Beg (Principal, Z. H. College of Engineering and Technology, AMU), and Prof. Pervez Mustajab (Dean, Faculty of Engg. & Technology, AMU) graced the event. Vote of thanks in the inaugural session was extended by Dr. Hussain. The lectures were delivered on the topics of Advanced machining processes, Finite Element Analysis in Solid Mechanics, Fundamentals and Applications of Enriched Computational Techniques, Magneto-rheological finishing, ECDM Process for MEMS Application, Industry Relevant Thermoplastic Composites, Capillary flows, Corrosion of Metallic Orthopaedic Implants and Role of Renewable Energy in Buildings.

A webinar on “Success Story of PHWRs” was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Z H College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The webinar was held on 5th March. 2022 from 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM. The resource person was Mr.Shakeel Ahmad Khan (Additional Chief Engineer, NPCIL, India). The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Nafees Ahmad, (Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, AMU), followed by a brief note on the importance and relevance of the topic by Prof M Muzammil (Chairperson, Department of Mechanical Engineering, AMU), and a vote of thanks was extended by Mr. Adnan Hafiz (Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, AMU). The event was coordinated by Mr. Adnan Hafiz and Mr. Mohammad Haani Farooqi (Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, AMU).

A webinar on “Future of Automotive Industry” was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Z H College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The webinar was held on 19th Feb. 2022 from 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM. The resource person was Mr. Abdul Rab Ansari (Principal Engineer at Mercedes Benz Research and Development, India). The welcome address was delivered by Prof M Muzammil (Chairperson, Department of Mechanical Engineering, AMU), and a vote of thanks was extended by Mr. Nafees Ahmad (Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, AMU). The event was coordinated by Mr. Nafees Ahmad and Mr. Mohammad Haani Farooqi (Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, AMU)

An Online Workshop on “Computational Techniques in Mechanical Engineering” was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Z H College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The online workshop conducted from February 11-15, 2022. The event was Coordinated by Prof. Mohammed Ali and co-coordinated by Mr. Mohammad Nasir Khan & Dr. Mohd Shaaban Hussain (Department of Mechanical Engineering, AMU).

The workshop was inaugurated on 11 February, 2022 at 3:00 pm. Inaugural Session was hosted by Mr. Mohammad Nasir Khan. Prof. Mohammed Ali provided detailed introduction of the workshop and welcome the dignitaries, Participants and resource persons. Then, Prof M Muzammil (Chairperson, Department of Mechanical Engineering) delivered welcome address. Vote of thanks in the inaugural session was extended by Dr. Mohd Shaaban Hussain.

The workshop was a great success as 345 participants from India and abroad (Oman, Malaysia, Saudi Arab) had registered for the workshop. Eminent Speakers in the area of Mechanical Engineering delivered their lectures. The lectures were delivered on the topics of: Simulation of Production systems, Fuzzy based MCDM technique for multi-response optimization, Computational Techniques and Parallel Programming, Optimization Using Genetic Algorithms etc. Moreover, hands-on sessions on ARENA and ANSYS software were also carried out.

A webinar entitled “Trends in Agricultural Design & Career Opportunities” was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh, on 29th January 2022 from 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM (IST). The event started with the welcome address and introduction of the speaker by Dr. M. Muzammil, Chairperson & Professor, Mechanical Engg. Dept. AMU, Aligarh. The speaker, Mr. Muzaffar Hasnain, Head of Functional Technology (Design-R&D) Claas India Private Ltd. delivered a detailed lecture on the topic. He began his lecture by giving brief explanation of the need of mechanization of agricultural sector. He discussed several trends of design and also explained carrer opportunities in agricultural industries in India as well as abroad. There was an enthusiastic interaction between the participants and the speaker.This webinar had participants from both industires and several other institutes such as NITs and state level Government Engineering Colleges. Prof. Abid Ali Khan, Prof. Faisal Talib and Dr. Sajjad Arif, MED, AMU, organized the event.

A webinar on “Deep Learning for the Early Detection and Prediction of Brain Disorders” was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Z H College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The webinar was held on 24th Jan. 2022 from 10:30 - 11:30 AM. The resource person was Dr. Ramy Hussein (Research Scientist at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine & Imaging, Stanford University). Welcome address was delivered by Prof M Muzammil (Chairperson, Department of Mechanical Engineering, AMU) and vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Abdullah Y Usmani (Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, AMU). The event was coordinated by Dr. Abdullah Y Usmani and Mr. Mohammad Haani Farooqi (Assistant Professors, Department of Mechanical Engineering, AMU).

A workshop has been conducted on “Application of ANSYS to Engineering Problems” by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Z. H. College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) through Online Mode for one week from JANUARY 17-21, 2022 to get the idea of Ansys Fluent and to make the participants well aware of how to do simulation modeling for predicting fluid flow and heat transfer patterns.

The inaugural session of the workshop was held on 17th Jan. 2022 from 02:00-02:30 PM. In the Inaugural function, Dr. Mohammad Asif, MED provided a detailed introduction of the workshop and welcome the dignitaries, participants, and resource persons. Then, Prof M Muzammil (Chairperson, Department of Mechanical Engineering) delivered a welcome address Vote of thanks in the inaugural session was extended by Dr. Muhammed Muaz, MED, AMU.

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University organized a five days workshop on Numerical Simulation of Fluid-Structure Interactions with two days of Ansys hands-on sessions between 21st and 25th of November, 2021. The workshop was conducted in collaboration with Ansys, via its authorized partners in India, Qantur Systems and Ark Infosolutions. Eminent professors from IIT Kanpur, Delhi and Bombay gave invited lectures. CFD and FEA experts from Qantur Systems and Ark Infosultions conducted live Ansys sessions. Over 140 students, teachers and industrial professionals registered themselves as particpants.

Apart from various Indian universities, including IIT Kanpur and IIT Delhi, and various private colleges, the event saw international participation from students at Kyungpook National University, South Korea, Ecole Centrale de Nantes, France and The Arctic University of Norway, Norway.
