Tauseef Fatima is working as an Assistant Professor at Centre for Women’s Studies, Aligarh Muslim University. She has also taught as a Guest Lecturer at Isabella Thoburn College, Lucknow. She has completed B. A.LL.B. (Hons.) from Aligarh, and Masters in Women’s Studies from Isabella Thoburn College, Lucknow. She takes interest in issues relating to women’s lived realities, and has worked at the grassroots with various organizations such as Karna India Trust, Lucknow; Amanbiradari (Aligarh Chapter). She has written several scripts on gender issues and directed street plays for gender sensitization and outreach programmes. She believes in engaging with the young minds through conducting workshops on gender issues at schools and colleges.
She was awarded Professor P.S. Gupta and J.C. Jha Memorial Prize, for the paper titled ‘Question of Marriage and Legitimacy in the Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Century Colonial India’ in the 78th Session of Indian History Congress, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, 28th -30th December, 2017.
