Have been working in the Department of Microbiology for the last 14 years (thirteen years as Assistant Professor, and one year as Senior Resident, Department of Microbiology, JNMC, AMU ). Passed MBBS from Lady Hardinge Medical College, MD Microbiology and two years of Senior Residency from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. Am keenly interested in viral hepatitis especially occult hepatitis B, SEN virus, TTV, HBV genotypes. Recently completed DST project on Occult HBV in chronic liver disease: clinical profile, diagnosis, immunological profile. Immunopathogenesis of HBV, leptospira and sepsis has been assessed and results published. Was the first to study HBV immunopathogenesis and prevalence of SEN virus in India. Coryneforms were established as pathogens in SSI by my team in North India. Bacterial drug resistance (MRSA, ESBL, AmpC, MBL, HLAR) are my abiding interests.Have demonstrated significant prevalence of scrub typhus in Aligarh region of western UP. Am In Charge, State Reference Laboratory for HIV and we are working towards NABL accreditation of our Lab. Am the co-ordinator of State Reference laboratory for Sexually Transmitted Infections.Am convener for Biomedical waste management as well as for antimicrobial policy for Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. My teaching interests include bacteriology and virology. Am a reviewer of JMM, J virol methods, JIPH, Ann Clin Microbiol. Have delivered national level talk on "Nosocomial viral and fungal infections at XXXV IAMM, Banaras. Have over 70 publications. Some of them can be found in: 1.
