Dr. Farhan Ahmad Khan, MBBS, MD (Pharmacology) is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at JN Medical College Hospital, Aligarh Muslim University, India. With over 16 years of extensive research experience, he has made significant contributions to the field of Clinical Pharmacology and has mentored numerous undergraduate and postgraduate researchers, fostering a strong pipeline of emerging scholars in the discipline.
In addition to his academic responsibilities, Dr. Farhan serves as a Consultant for the Drug & Poison Information Centre (DPIC) at his affiliated hospital. He played a pivotal role in establishing the centre in collaboration with the Department of Forensic Medicine. The DPIC now functions as a vital institutional resource, addressing drug-related queries from both internal clinicians and external stakeholders. His core research interests include Pharmacovigilance, Pharmacogenetics, Rational Use of Medicines, and Antimicrobial Resistance.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to Pharmacology, Dr. Farhan was awarded the Fellowship of the British Pharmacological Society on September 30, 2025. He was also conferred the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Royal College of Physicians (UK), in May 2024. Further demonstrating his leadership in the field, he was elected Director/Trustee – Senior Academic Leadership at the British Pharmacological Society for the 2025–2027 term. Additionally, he was elected as Education Councillor for the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR) Education Committee for the 2023–2026 term. His earlier leadership roles include serving on the Education Committee of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology in 2020 and heading the Accreditation Board for the National Association of Pharmacology and Therapeutics in India during 2022–2024.
Dr. Farhan is the Chief Editor of the International Archives of BioMedical and Clinical Research, published by Medicozum, UK. He also serves on the editorial boards of several highly reputed, peer-reviewed international medical research journals.
His professional memberships include the American College of Clinical Pharmacology, British Pharmacological Society, International Society of Pharmacovigilance, UK Pharmacogenetics and Stratified Medicine Network, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FPM), International Society of Pharmacometrics (ISoP), American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), Pharmacogenomics Global Research Network (PGRN), British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC), Indian Society for Clinical Research, Asian Council of Science Editors, and the Science Alert Family.
Dr. Farhan has been instrumental in coordinating the Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) Monitoring Centre under the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, from 2016 to 2020. He also played a key role in developing the hospital drug formulary to align with institutional and therapeutic requirements.
With substantial administrative and academic leadership experience, Dr. Farhan has served as Head of the Department for six years, demonstrating consistent excellence in governance, academic development, and the advancement of clinical pharmacology as a discipline.
