Dr. Azizur Rahman A is working as an Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Department of West Asian and North African Studies at Aligarh Muslim University. He has completed his Master's and MPhil/PhD in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Dr. Aziz's research delves into the intricate fields of Social change(more precisely, ICT and social change)and Political Sociology, exploring the complex intersection of religion within this domain, particularly political Islam, ethnicity, and conflict in West Asia and beyond.
In the classroom, Dr. Aziz enriches the academic experience with diverse courses. His pedagogical portfolio includes teaching topics such as Society and Culture in West Asia, Introduction to Digital society, International Migration and West Asia, and the intriguing nexus of Islamic resurgence and politics in the region.
Further enhancing the academic landscape, he brings his expertise to courses on the Arabian Peninsula and delves into the profound Sociology of Ibn-Khaldun. Additionally, he teaches research ethics to PhD students.
Dr. Aziz has achieved various academic distinctions, including UGC/NET/JRF in Sociology and UGC/NET in Women's Studies. He has also published several research papers and articles in reputed academic journals
