Dr. S. Imtiaz Hasnain, Professor of Sociolinguistics, retired as Dean, Faculty of Arts, AMU and Chairman, Department of Linguistics, AMU. Currently he is Chair Professor, Maulana Azad in the Department of English, School of Languages, Linguistics and Indology, Maulana azad National Urdu University,  Gachbowli, 

Hyderabad.
 


He was EWC Fulbright Scholar in East West Center, Hawaii, U.S.A.; Senior Fellow, Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), (MHRD), Mysore; Visiting Professor, Centre for Linguistics, JNU; Visiting Scholar, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla; Senior Visiting Scholar. Orebro University, Sweden, and a recipient of "President's Inspired Teachers for 2015", which is the highest civilian recognition for the University-level teachers for the Central Universities in the Republic of India. He has supervised 22 Ph.D., 2 M.Phil., examined several Ph.D. theses submitted in several Universities in Europe, South East Asia and reputed Universities, IITs and Private Universities in India and completed six (6) Research Projects sponsored by DST, CIIL, UGC, NCPUL, ICSSR and DoE sponsored TDIL (Technology Development of Indian Languages).


Presented papers and Participated in several National and International Seminars, Conferences, Symposiums & Workshops within India, Europe, America, UK, China, etc. China, etc. Has been an Anonymous Reviewer of Journal of Politeness Research: Language, Behavior, Culture (Mouton de Gruyter), EPW (Economic and Political Weekly); Oxford University Press to review the manuscripts, books as well as Journals; South Asian Diaspora (Routledge Taylor & Francis Group); Book proposals submitted to: Routledge and Taylor & Francis Group; Springer, The Netherlands; SAGE Open.


Visiting Professor, Centre for Linguistics, SLL&CS, JNU, New Delhi; Visiting Scholar, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla; Invited Speaker in the 69th Session of the Indian History Congress Panel on Language Change in Indian History held in Kannur (December 2008). (The other invited speakers were Professor Emeritus Romila Thapar and Professor Emeritus Irfan Habib); Invited Panelist on National Commission for Religious and Linguistic Minorities organized by Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore; Invited Resource Person in a Workshop on Multilingual Education for Tribal Groups in Jharkhand organized by CIIL, Mysore in collaboration with National Council for Educational Research and Training and UNESCO; Invited Contributor in the UNESCO Volume: History of Civilizations of Central Asia: Towards Contemporary Civilizations (Mid-nineteenth century to the present) and the UNESCO Resource Book: Multilingualism and Education. published by UNESCO; Invited as Subject Expert by the Corporate R&D Division of Lernout and Hauspie for a discussion on Speech User Interface (SUI) with particular reference to Urdu Speech to Text and Urdu Corpus in Ieper, Belgium.
