Dr. Shagufta Imtiaz, Professor in English, Women's College, graduated from Patna University and did M.Phil./Ph.D. from AMU. She has been involved in curriculum designing of MA ELT courses at AMU and MA English Language Program at Gautam Buddha University, (Greater Noida) and has been an external examiner for Ph.D. theses from EFLU (Hyderabad) and an External Peer Evaluator for a Project submitted by the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences (English), National Institute of Technology Raipur. She has also been an anonymous reviewer of the manuscript published by Springer and articles published in FORTELL (Forum for Teachers of English Language and Literature) Journal of Teaching English Language and Literature. An Affiliate of TESOL International Association and IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language, U.K.), published by Aakar Books International (New Delhi). UGC Care Journal
Her areas of research interest in English Language Teaching (ELT) are Writing and Identity, Advanced Reading and Politeness/(im)politeness in Pragmatics. She has supervised over a dozen Ph.D. students and MA ELT Dissertations. She has been an invited Key Speaker in International Webinar on Recent Trends in Language Teaching in Interdisciplinary Perspective organized by Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Muhammadiyah Tapanuli Selatan, UM Tapsel, Pedang Sidempuan, Indonesia; Resource Person in Refresher Course in English organized by the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), AMU and AICTE Sponsored Short Term Course on Practical Challenges and Theoretical Applications in Teaching English, organised by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
She has participated in a number of National and International Seminars/Conferences organised both within and outside India and has published articles in some of the following reputed journals such as: Indian Linguistics (Pune) (UGC Care listed), Indian Journal of Applied Linguistics (New Delhi), Eduexplorer (New Delhi), Interdisciplinary Journal of Linguistics, South Asian Language Review (an online Journal from New Delhi), English Studies in India: A Journal of Literature and Language (Kashmir), The Discourse, Aligarh Journal of Linguistics (UGC Care listed), The Scoria (Chandigarh) and Language in India (an online Journal from USA), FORTELL (Forum for Teachers of English Language and Literature) (UGC Care listed).
She is an author of the book titled Schema in Literature: Towards a Model of Comprehension Pedagogy (Manak Publications, New Delhi) and has also contributed chapters in Books published by Viva Books (Delhi), Yiking Books (Jaipur), Lakshi Publishers (Delhi), Vijaya Books (Delhi), Bahri Publications (Delhi), Indian Scholar Publications (Jaipur), Cambridge Scholars (UK), Lincom Europa (Munich, Germany), Cambridge University Press (UK).
