            Aligarh, September, 13: Sir Shah Sulaiman Hall, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh observed the nationwide Swachhta Pakhwada, 2021 during the period from 1st to 15th September, 2021.

            Prof. Shamshad Husain (Provost), all Wardens along with the staff members carried out various activities which are mentioned as under:



  1. Swachhta Oath was administered by the Provost, Prof. Shamshad Husain, where the wardens and the staff members pledged to maintain cleanliness and get involved in awareness programme round the year.

  1. Cleanliness drive in the Hall premises was organized, where activities like plugging in all the hostels and public spaces were thoroughly conducted.

  1. Sanitization drive was undertaken as preventive measures of COVID-19.

  1. A thorough survey was conducted to check wastage of water and all measures have been taken to rectify the same.

  1. Barrier free access to drinking water, toilet/bathroom facilities and maintenance of ramp for the Divyang students were reviewed and necessary actions were taken to ensure the same.

  1. Plantation drive was carried out by the Provost, Prof. Shamshad Husain and Wardens in the presence of other staff members in which saplings were planted at several places within the premises of the Hall of residence.

Sir Shah Sulaiman Hall celebrated Independence Day

 

 

Sir Shah Sulaiman Hall celebrated Independence Day with traditional solemnity, gaiety and enthusiasm. On this occasion, the hoisting of the tricolor was conducted by the Provost, Prof. Sadaf Zaidi. This was followed by the National Anthem. The Provost said that the Independence Day is an annual National Festival of India. India gained its freedom from the British Empire on 15th August, 1947. Prof. Zaidi added that this day reminds us of the struggle of the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for their country. Hence, this day is very important for all the citizens of India. It inspires us to love our country.

He called upon the students to be ready to devote their knowledge, time and energy for the betterment of the country. A sapling was also planted by the Provost, Prof. Zaidi on this occasion. The team of Wardens comprising Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, Dr. Mohd Sarfaraz Alam and others alongwith students and the Hall Staff including Mr. Aftab Alam, Mr. S. Athar Hashmi, Mr. Asif Ali Siddiqui, Mr. Javed Asghar, Mr. Salman Khan Fazal and others were present. REPORT OF LITERARY & CULTURAL FEST “ALFAAZ-5.0”

 

Alfaaz 5.0 was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. Amanullah Khan, JNMC, Aligarh & Guest of Honour, Er. Javaid Saeed in the presence of Mr. Md. Taufique Khan, Senior Hall, Mr. Aasif Akhlaque, Secretary Literary Society & Mr. Abu Huzaifa Khan, Secretary Cultural Society. Meanwhile, events were held under the stewardship of the Provost, Prof. Salman Hameed and Warden In-charge Dr. Farman Ali. As per the tradition of AMU, programme started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Chief Guest in his introductory remark focused on importance of extra curricular activities with academics. ALFAAZ 5.0 was an amalgamation of Literary & Cultural activities including Debate, Creative Writing, Solo Singing, Shaam-e-Naat, AdMad, Mimicry, Dumbcharades, Turn Coat, A minute to fame, Baitbazi, MR. SULAIMAN and several other Literary & Cultural activities. Literary & Cultural society of the hall also organized different backstage events like Essay Writing, On Spot Painting, Calligraphy, Poetry Composition & Recitation. Set debate was chaired by Prof. Tamkin Khan, JNMC, Aligarh. The topic of debate was “this house would ban all the bans”. ALFAAZ 5.0 also organized first of its kind of quiz fest in AMU including CricTainment Quiz, Islamic Quiz, General Quiz, Biztech Quiz conducted by famous quizmasters from university.

            The aim of this festival was to inculcate a habit of facing competition whilst excelling in academics, with a motto of providing platform to test and show your skills at intra university level. The felicitation of the winners & organizers was done on the last day followed by the concluding ceremony in which Prof. Parwez Qamar Rizvi & Dr. Ashiq Ali were the Chief Guest & the Guest of Honour respectively. The ceremony was hosted by the Literary Secretary Mr. Aasif Akhlaque & the Cultural Secretary Mr. Abu Huzaifa Khan. The hall fest concluded with a Vote of thanks delivered by the Provost Prof. Salman Hameed. All the Wardens of this Hall Mr. Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, Dr. Mohd Arsalan, Dr. Mohd Khaleequzzaman, Dr. Shafiqullah, Dr. Yaqoob Yasin, Dr. Wajid Ali, Dr. Mohd Imran, Dr. Md. Mojahid Anwar & Dr. Merajuddin Faridi were also present in the function.

PRESS RELEASE

 An interaction meeting of the senior students and the freshly enrolled students was convened in Sir Shah Sulaiman Hall. The meeting started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Mr. Waqar Raza.

 

In his opening remarks, Prof. Mohammed Arif, Provost, Sir Shah Sulaiman Hall welcomed the resident members and congratulated them for having been offered admission in the University. Prof. Arif encouraged the students to achieve academic excellence and maintain the rich traditions of the Aligarh Muslim University in their daily life. He also assured best support on the part of hall administration and staff.

 

Dr. Sabih Akhtar urged the students to fulfil the dreams of their parents and guardians by following best practices in life. Dr. Fareed Mahdi stressed upon a friendly and cordial relationship between the senior students and the freshers.

 

On behalf of the senior students Mr. Abdul Khuddad and Mr. Fahad Zeeshan Khan promised best help and cooperation to their younger brothers. The freshers also acknowledged the affection on the part of their seniors and promised to follow the rich traditions of the University.

 

Dr. Bilal Ahmad Kutty conducted the programme. It was attended by Dr. Ejaz Masood, Dr. Qasimullah and Er. Mohammed Aslam Husain besides a large number of senior students and freshers of the hall. The meeting came to an end with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Bilal Ahmad Kutty.
