Sir Syed's Bicentenary Celebrations

In view of  Sir Syed's Bicentenary Celebration in 2017, Professor Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University has taken a far reaching decision, well in advance for celebrating the AMU Founder's Bicentenary in a befitting manner. As a tribute to Sir Syed's education mission, a series of events and new initiatives have been planned.

 

On this occasion round the year celebrations will take place to augment the existing resource on Sir Syed and to reproduce it in the IT age so as to promulgate the philosophy Sir Syed for education of Indian Muslims. The programmes include publication of commemorative Volumes, a coffee table edition, Sir Syed Bibliography in world languages, a biography of Sir Syed in Hindi, special issues of Tehzibul Akhlaque and Fikr-o-Nazr, English translations of Sir Syed's works and directory of prominent AMU Alumni / ae; organization of multi-level lectures, seminars, conferences and awareness rallies on Sir Syed; commissioned research projects; essay writing and painting competitions; Sir Syed Exhibitions and sound and light show. A part from this the University will also make efforts to produce a motion picture on the life and times of Sir Syed, get the Govt. issue a Bicentenary stamp, collect all objects associated with Sir Syed for the Museum and bring out some special souvenirs to mark the grand celebration.

In order to ensure a grand success of the celebrations, the cooperation of the entire AMU community and AMU alumni is required.
