Prof. Rafiuddin is a senior professor in Chemistry Department, Aligarh Muslim University. After completing his PhD from Chemistry department, he was a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Chemical laboratory, University of Kent at Canterbury, England from 1992-1993. He is an active Academician and researcher, recipient of Nehru Centenary British Fellowship in chemistry awarded by Government of India and British Council, U.K. in 1992. He has guided 25 Ph.D. and has published his work in various high impact factor Q1 International journals. He has presented his work in various international conferences held in India and foreign countries including Holland and U.K. He was also actively involved in organizing national and international conferences at Chemistry department AMU.

He has been given the charge of Dean Student's Welfare, Aligarh Muslim University on 7 Jan 2024., he has served as Provost of Mohammad Habib Hall for 7 years. He was elected as University Court Member for two consecutive terms. Has also served as member of Executive Council, AMU, President of University Athletic Club from July 2007-2014.

As DSW he is actively involved in student Counselling, coordinating with Provosts Halls of residence, ensuring a better residential life for students, streamlining various scholarship programmes for students, encouraging students for their over all development.
