Dr Asim Rizvi is a mechanistic chemist who is primarily interested in the differential metabolism of drugs by various cell types. He was a Khorana Research Fellow at the University of Wisconsin and an Obama Singh Fellow at the Ohio State University in the United States. He is a recipient of the FIRS from the University of Leeds in England and the Indo Canadian Shastri Postdoctoral Fellowship. He has been involved in teaching and learning at several major international universities. 

Besides his core research in the field of metabolic and parasitic diseases, he is interested in teaching and developing methods of teaching and the Nature of Science.

Dr Rizvi is an Associate Fellow of the Indo-US APJ Abdul Kalam Center for STEM Education and Research.
