Dr Tabassum Nawab is working as Assistant Professor and Medical Officer Health (Rural Health Training Centre) in the Department since 2014. She completed MBBS in 2005, Diploma in Gynaecology and Obstetrics (DGO) in 2007 and M.D. (Community Medicine) in 2011 from J.N. Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. She has worked as Senior Resident in Department of Community Medicine for 3 years. She has special interest in Epidemiological methods and Biostatistics and has served as trainer for the same in various workshops.
Her research focusses on Respectful Maternal Care, maternal mental health and maternal nutrition, apart from adolescent health and non-communicable diseases. She has received five Best Oral Paper Presentation Awards in National and International Conferences. She has supervised two ICMR-STS projects, three M.D. thesis and co-supervised thirteen M.D. (Com med) /M.S. (OBG) thesis works till date. She has published papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals and is a reviewer for journals like BMJ Open, Journal of Advanced Nursing and J Obstetrics and Gyn. She is a member of national and international bodies like IPHA,IAPSM, FOGSI, Stillbirth Society of India (SBSI), and White Ribbon Alliance.
