Main areas of research interest are the tectonic evolution and metallogeny in the
Himalaya, Mahakoshal Group and Aravalli terrain in Rajasthan, and active tectonics as
decipherable through geomorphic studies. Presently working on a major research project
dealing with the application of hyperspectral remote sensing as applicable to mineral
exploration, funded by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
Teaching Areas include economic geology and ore genesis, ore microscopy, plate
tectonics, remote sensing applications in mineral exploration.
Published articles and research papers in widely read journals viz., Science Reporter,
Current Science, the Indian Journal of Earth Sciences, Journal of the Geological Survey
of India, Journal of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing, Journal of Environmental
Research and Development, etc.
Maintains a website at http://www.geol-amu.org through which lecture notes, handouts,
exercises and other resource material, including maps and vector datasets usable by
researchers are made available to the student community.
