- I obtained a B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Zoology in 2012 and an M.Sc. with a specialisation in Parasitology in 2015 from the Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Thereafter, I received my PhD under the supervision of Prof. Wajihullah Khan. I was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department in September 2019.
In the long term, I intend to streamline diagnoses and make the detection of disease outbreaks more efficient for developing countries, especially endemic resource-poor nations.
My research focuses on the pathology caused by the interaction between hosts and pathogens, which results in severe infectious diseases such as malaria. I am interested in understanding the host-parasite interactions at the transcriptomic level and integrating gene expression analysis with detailed clinical and laboratory data to characterize the systemic pathophysiology of severe malaria and dengue. I have also been exploring the prevalence and pathogenesis of zoonotic infections, particularly in cats.
