Prof. Ahmed did his M.Sc. & M.Phil from A.M.U.Aligarh and Ph.D. from the University of Roorkee (Presently, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee). He was the  Chairman of, the Department of Statistics & Operations Research, A.M.U., Aligarh (March 31, 2021, to March 30, 2024). Also, he served the Department of Statistics as Founder Head ( April 2, 2004-Dec.15, 2008, and July 27, 2011-May 2, 2014) at the University of Kashmir Srinagar. He also functioned as the Dean of, the Faculty of Physical & Material Sciences 2013-2014. He has also served as a Professor of Statistics at the Qassim University, Saudi Arabia for two and a half years (Dec.2008 to June 2011) and at the Asian Institute of Technology Pathumthani, Bangkok, Thailand under the MHRD Programme, from Aug.-Dec.-2016. He has been a Member of the A.M.U.Court, University Council, University of Kashmir and  Executive Council and Academic Council, BGSBU, Rajouri, Chairman of, the Board of Studies in Statistics, and a member of various Academic Bodies, at the University of Kashmir, Srinagar, and Aligarh Muslim University. He has guided eighteen Ph.D. and fifteen M.Phil scholars and published more than 110 research papers in international and national Journals. Prof. Ahmed has organized three International Conferences, four Refresher Courses, and nine  Workshops and delivered more than 85 extension lectures in Academic Staff Colleges and the Departments of several Universities across the country on Research Methodology, Optimization, and Statistics Using Software Packages (SPSS and MINITAB). He is a member of, the Visiting Team of the National Council of Evaluation of Teachers, Scientific Standing Committee, (SAC) ICMR, Jabalpur,  and Vice President of Indian Society for Probability and Statistics (ISPS)
