Past Events and Achievements
PAST EVENTS & ACHIEVEMENTS
1957, January: Participated in Presidents Bodyguard Horse Show, the first participation by MURC outside Aligarh and bagged several prizes.
1958, June: AMU team participated at the PBG show at Delhi. The team got several prizes.
1962: third participation by AMU outside Aligarh in a National Event and got one bronze medal.
1970-1973: Muslim University riding team constantly participated in Delhi Horse Show and got several medals and places in each year and also participated in several Nationals.
1974: National Winners, Delhi Horse Show, Team Tent Pegging, Captain Khushnood Ali Khan, Mr. Wajih Ullah Khan & Mr. Tariq Waheed Qureshi.
1975-76: Captain Wajih Ullah Khan was awarded National Sports Talent Scholarship (under NSO Scheme).
**President of India, Mr. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmad on his visit to Aligarh graciously donated two horses to the club.
1976-77: For the firsttime MURC team went to Nainital on horses by Kuccha road to participate in The National Horse Show.
1976-77: for the first time MURC members in the form of 14 members team including 2 girl members participated in Delhi Horse Show. Captain Mukhtar Hussain and Ch. Ahrar reached upto final in Individual Tent pegging. The Youngest member to participate in junior jumps was Irfan-ur-Rahim Khan of class 9th of Minto Circle. Major Journal Lachhman Singh was the chief guest of the championship function of MURC.
1977-78: Lt. Gen. A.N. Mathur (QMG) presented two horses as an expression of his pleasure and good wishes for the Riding Club.
1978: Zoya Ansari, Coach Saleem Bux Siddiqui and Heera Singh secured 2nd place in team tent-pegging in the Nationals at Delhi.
1989: The Club celebrated its 100 years and organizes with great zeal all India Equestrian Championship in which teams participated from all over India. That was the biggest event organized by the club till 2014. The most attractive event was the cross country of 3 km all around the Aligarh Fort.
1987-88: MURC team participated in the Delhi Horse Show organized by presidents Estate Polo Club. It was placed 3rd in the team Tent-Pegging event.
2012: Muslim University Riding Team won 19 medals in The Great Ghaziabad Horse Show and Delhi Horse Show.
2014, March: Muslim University Riding Club celebrated
its 125 years and organizes its biggest event which was National Equestrian
Championship 2014 of Tent pegging under the Chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Lt.
Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah, a keen Sportsman and rider. In this
Championship more than 300 of equestrians of different army regiments and
private clubs took part.
