ARIF NAZIR, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Professor in Department of Hindi, AMU, Aligarh, has been teaching under graduate and post graduate classes as Lecturer/ Reader and Professor since 11 April 1983. He was awarded two D.Lit degrees by Magadh University, Bodh, Gaya in 1991 and MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly in 2002. He was also awarded UGC Research Award in Hindi for the IX Plan period and completed a project as per rules of the scheme.  He has completed 3 Minor Research Projects and a Major Research Project awarded by AMU/ UGC. He is the author of 10 books and co-translator of a book from Urdu to Hindi. His 101 Research Papers and about 17 articles are published in various prestigious journals. He has contributed about 9 chapters to various books. He has been the editor of "Kala Sankay Shodh Patrika" the Annual Research Journal of the Faculty of Arts, AMU, Aligarh in Hindi for a number of years and edited 8 issues of the same in different years. He was the editor of " Abhinav Bharti" Annual Research Journal, Department of Hindi, AMU, Aligarh and edited 3 issues of the same as Chairman, Department of Hindi, AMU from 23-8-2013 to 22-8-2016.  He has participated and presented papers in about 89 National and 12 International Conferences/ Seminars etc. in India. He attended, participated and presented papers in International Conferences/ Congress etc in Canada (1994) The Netherlands (Holland) (1997) and Canada (2000) Dubai (2015) France (2016) Australia (2017). He also visited Switzerland and Italy.  He had been a Resource for Hindi at Doha, Qatar in connection with the Teachers' in Service Orientation Programme for the period from 13th December 1999 to 16th December 1999. He has been honored with a number of prestigious awards and honors. Some of them are U.G.C Research Award, Natali Puraskar (2005-6) Pravasi Bhartiya Mahakavi Hari Shankar Adesh Sahitaya Sindhu Samman (2011) Nagri Lipi Parishad Puraskar in annual All India Essay Competition, Research Group for six times i.e. in 1987, 88, 92, 94, 99 and 2000, Abdul Rahim Khankhana Samman (2000), Hindi Ratana Samman (2001)  Varishtha Rashtriya Pratibha Samman(2010) Goswami Tulsidas Samarchan Samman, Vishva Vidayaya Stariya Samman, Dr. Mahendra Sagar Prachandiya Smriti Sahitaya Varidhi Samman, Vishva Hindi Sevi Samman etc 17 Research Scholars have completed their research and obtained Ph.D degree under his supervision. Beside Professor in Hindi, at present, he is also Coordinator of the course of Environmental Studies at the Faculty of Arts, AMU, Aligarh
