Standard Operating Procedure for Seminar Library/Research Division
Seminar Library/Research Division
The Department of Urdu maintains clear operating procedures for optimum utilization of its resources.
The department has a well-stocked, computerized seminar library with approximately 21,351 books, which includes Persian, Urdu and English language books. It serves faculty members, research scholars, and students, as well as to the visitors who want to use the books for academic purposes. The faculty members, research scholars and postgraduate students of the department can browse the books through the OPAC and can use the books as per seminar rules. The Seminar Library works in the following manner.
1. The Seminar Library books are catalogued with accession numbers for each, in line with the procedure followed by Maulana Azad Library.
2. Postgraduate students have access to all books of the seminar library, The library facilitates them in their studies and enable them to prepare for competitive examinations. These books can be borrowed by producing valid identity cards issued by the University. For facilitating this process, a seminar secretary is appointed from among the postgraduate students.

The office hours are
from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with a lunch break from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
2. Multi Tasking Staff Cleans
the classrooms, chambers of the teachers, seminar room, computer lab and the department
office.
3. The office of the department is devoted
to providing a favorable working atmosphere and all required support to the
teachers, research scholars, students and other to ensure the smooth
functioning of the department.
4. The office supervises all administrative work
under the direction of the chairperson. It maintains records of all accounts,
purchases, correspondences, and other activities of the department. It also
deals with UGC JRF/SRF and other fellowships for the students. It keeps record
of attendance of the undergraduate and postgraduate students. It also maintains
record of leave of teachers and non-teaching staff. The office collects all
records of examinations and marks and from the faculty members and transmit them
to the Office of the Controller for the declaration of results and preparing
award lists and degree/diploma in addition to providing support for all
Departmental Entrance Tests and Admissions.
5. The office ensures maintenance of all
classrooms, seminar library, and computer lab. It conducts physical
verification of all physical assets of the department and maintains stock
register capital and consumable items. The office extends help during the
organization of conferences and workshops, besides helping set-up all ICTs for
various activities.
6. The Office updates the department website
under the guidance of the Chairperson. It also delivers all internal and
external mails circulated to and from the department.
Scholarship and other important information

and dispatch register entries.

One office staff is
assigned to receipt letters of RTI and dispatch RTI replies.
