The specialization is Plant Pathology. Area of research interest is soil - borne fungal diseases of pulses and oilseed Brassica crop and estimation of naturally occurring potential rhizospheric microorganisms including Arbuscular Mycorrhizal(AM)fungi. It includes disease survey; identification and variability in naturally occurring rhizospheric microorganisms and associated causal fungi; factors influencing disease development and disease management, evaluating sources of host resistance, organic amendments, chemicals and bio-inoculants to develop an eco-friendly and sustainable approach for Integrated Disease Management (IDM). Teaching several courses of Plant Pathology at Postgraduate level in the Department of Plant Protection and to the students of P.G. Diploma in Horticulture and Pest Management.Acted as CC-Co-PI (Cooperating Centre Co- Principal Investigator) in a project entitled "Integrated Management of Plant Nematodes/Soil Pathogens in pulse based cropping systems" funded by National Agricultural Technology Project (NATP/ ICAR). At present, succeeded in collaborating with International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Phillipines under STRASA project on "Use of microbes for management of abiotic stresses in Rice ".
