Prof. Hina Parwez joined A.M.U. was back in 1997 as Lecturer in Zoology after having put in a brief stint of service at Ranchi University. She was promoted as Associate Professor in 2002 and later appointed as Professor of Zoology in 2009. As on date, She has nearly 35 years of teaching and research experience having guided three Ph.Ds. and three M.Phils. students and currently three students are working under her supervision.
With her deep understanding and extensive training in Entomology, her current area of research is focussed on three aspects. One aspect of her studies deals with Ecological Studies on Soil Microarthropods with Special Reference to Order: Collembola from Selected Sites to understand the interaction between different soil microarthropods and the edaphic factors in correlation with soil fertility and soil health which will be extremely relevant to agroforestry. Soil insects and mites are susceptible to variations in the ecosystem and climatic changes; hence, they are used as bio-monitoring agents.
Her second thrust area mainly focuses on the Taxonomic studies of Moth Fauna. Moths are the members of order Lepidoptera which consists of about 158,570 species globally. Moths are susceptible to vegetative adaptations and climate change. With respect to global climate and habitat change, the present study is essential to document the known diversity and abundance of moths in the vast State of Uttar Pradesh to serve as an important baseline data for subsequent studies.
The third aspect of her study deals with Toxic effects of some heavy metals on selected families of Order: Collembola with reference to histological and molecular aspects. Such studies will help us to gain an insight into the architectural disarray of the tissues and alterations in the molecular parameters with the ultimate objective to assess if collembolans can be considered as potentially sensitive bio indicators of heavy metal pollution.
The above research has so far been published in 30 research publications of international repute, have been presented in 33 national and international conference and have culminated in one book chapter. She has been the examiner of the Ph.D. & M.Phil. thesis and the paper setter of UG and PG courses of many universities. She has been the recipient of Major Research Project from UGC worth Rs. 8.4 lacs.  Prof. Hina parwez has also been very closely associated with Open Distance Learning and was Assistant Coordinator and an Academic Counsellor of IGNOU for over a decade and dealt with interesting courses like FST, DNHE and AHE which constituted the part of the important curriculum of IGNOU.

Dr. Hina Parwez has been very active in corporate life of the Institution and shouldered many important responsibilities assigned to her such as being the Chief Election Officer for three consecutive years to conduct Women’s College Students Union Election (WCSU), she remained the Advisor, Treasurer and Chief Vigilance Officer of WCSU, was the I/c of Admissions and Examinations. She is currently the member of University Court of Central university of Kashmir, Srinagar (J&K).
