ABOUT NCC AMU

NCC AMU consists of the following units:-
1 8 UP Bn NCC
Boys AMU, Aligarh (Senior Division)
2 1 UP Engrs.
Coy AMU, Aligarh (Senior Division)
3 3 UP Girls Bn
AMU, Aligarh (Senior Division)
4 8 UP Bn NCC
Boys AMU, Aligarh (Junior Division)
I. 8 UP Bn NCC Boys AMU, Aligarh
(Senior Division):-
It consists of two
Companies of strength 155 Cadets each. The purpose of this Battalion (Bn) is to
prepare the cadets for the Infantry Division of the Army. Two company
commanders command the two Coys Viz. 1/8 and 2/8. The structure of the office
is as follows:
II. 1 UP Engrs. Coy. AMU Aligarh (Senior
Division): -
It consists of 200
cadets from Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCOET),
University Polytechnic and Science Graduate Students. The structure of the
Office is as follows:
III. 3 UP Girls Bn AMU,
Aligarh (Senior Division):-
It consists of 100
cadets from Women's College. One Coy Commander from Women's College AMU
commands the Coy.
IV. 8 UP Bn NCC
Boys AMU, Aligarh (Junior Division): -
It consists of 200
cadets. In this 100 cadets are from S.T High School and the remaining 100
cadets are from City High School AMU, Aligarh. One Troop Commander each from
their respective schools commands the unit.
TRAINING: -
All the cadets of NCC
have to undergo training in a session for 40 days in the evening at their
respective units. The NCC training is the part time course and
is of two years duration for Senior Division and Junior Division Cadets. After
two year of training and after attending one camp the cadet is eligible to
appear in B certificate examination with 75 % parade attendance. After the 3rd
year the cadet is eligible for C certificate examination, if he has
passed the B-certificate exam and has attended two camps.
The NCC camps
generally held are:
1. Combined Annual Training Camp
2. Army Attachment Camp
3. NIC Camp etc.
In addition to the
above camps and training the cadets have to participate in the following social
services:
1. Tree Plantation
2. Blood Donation
3. Traffic Control etc.
BENEFITS:-
After passing
successfully the C Certificate Examination the cadet can be benefited in the
following way
Defence Services: - Vacancies are reserved for commission in the defence forces for
the C certificate holder. The breakup is as follows:
1. 64 seats in Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehradun,
through UPSC and Service Selection Board (SSB) interview.
2. 100 seats in Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai for short service
commission by SSB only.
3. UPSC written exam is not mandatory and the C
certificate holders have to only face the SSB interview for commission in the
Navy.
4. 10% seats are reserved in all course including flying training courses
in the Air Force.
5. Bonus Marks for recruitment in various Para Military Forces.
State Governments:- Various states give preference to the NCC C Certificate holder in
the State Services.
Industries: - Many Industries give preferences to NCC C
Certificate holder for various jobs.
