About The Programme

Since the establishment of the Institute of Agriculture by Aligarh Muslim University with the approval of ICAR, It was immediately realized the need for undergraduate programmes in Agricultural Sciences and Technology. With the efforts and cooperation of Faculty members and university authorities, it has become reality to open B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture course initially in the self-finance mode on the pattern of ICAR Guideline.

The course, B. Sc.(Hons.) Agriculture is a 4 years multidisciplinary professional degree programme. The syllabus is very exhaustive and based on 5th Dean’s committee recommendations of ICAR for the undergraduate programme.

Production of well-acquainted students to enhance agricultural sustainability through research and extension activities is the mandate and goal behind the start-up of this programme. The trained manpower will be contributing considerably in different government organization and private agencies/industry. Some of them will also be able to generate self-employment in various agriculture/horticulture and food sectors.


PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)

  1. To impart subject-related knowledge with deep understanding on practical aspect of the subject.

  2. To promote professional skills and innovative abilities through meaningful hands on training.

  3. To provide an opportunity to the students to understand the rural setting in relation to agriculture and allied activities.

  4. To make the students familiar with socio-economic conditions of the farmers and their problems.

  5. To impart diagnostic and remedial knowledge to the students relevant to real field situations through practical training.

  6. To develop communication skills, confidence and competence to solve agricultural problems.

  7. To acquire enterprise management capabilities for better employment opportunity in Government and private sectors.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs)

  1. The students will be agricultural professionals, innovators or entrepreneurs and would help to solve technological problems.

  2. The students will function in their profession with social awareness and responsibility.

  3. Having first-hand and in-depth practical knowledge on agriculture and allied sciences.

  4. Having extensive knowledge on agri-allied sectors like livestock, poultry, engineering etc.

  5. Having an ability to use modern techniques and disseminate different technologies through various extension activities.

  6. Having knowledge on commercial agricultural production practices.

  7. Having adaptive and innovative thinking to make students competitive in pursuing higher studies.

  8. Having a clear understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.
