Standard Operating Procedures of Thermal Fogging Machine for Vector Control

25/11/2021

Fogging machine used for Vector Control:-

It is compatible for any type of chemical fogging and extensively used to eradicate insects and pests.

Fogging is a technique used for killing insects that involves using a fine pesticide spray (aerosol) which is directed by a blower towards controlling vector borne diseases. These machines are an effective medium for the treatment of large pieces of land, gardens, and other house landscapes. The thermal fogging machines are used for public health sectors and vector control.

Frequency of Fogging:-.

  • Fortnightly, when the number of Mosquitoes increases.

  • When three are increases in cases even weekly.

Following disinfectants are used to make fogging solution:

  1. Malathion 50%
  2. Malathion Technical
  3. Deltamethrin 1.25%

Calculation:

For amount of disinfectant =L x W x h

= For 1000 in cubic feet = 1 litre solution.

1 Litre solution is sufficient for fogging of 1000 cubic feet

Method of operating the fogging machine by the Staff:-

Wear the mask, gloves & goggles before starting the work.

Before plugging the fogging machine to the main, ensure that the machine is in the OFF Mode

Open the tank cap of the fogging machine and add fogging liquid to the tank (maximum upto 7 litres) and tighten the cap

Switch ON the Main mode

Place it at appropriate place with the nozzle’s direction facing the desired direction

Switch ON the machine so that the machine starts generating fog

Turn the value knob in anticlockwise direction for increasing the flow and in clockwise direction for droplets

After completion of fogging, switch OFF the machine and after the machine is completely cooled down, the remaining solution and petrol are removed and emptied to ensure cleaning of internal parts of the machine

The sprayer is designed to rest comfortably on the operator's back.

The sprayer is connected with a stainless steel Hi Jet gun or a spray lance.

Usag

  • Insecticide Spray works for ani-adult mosquitos/flies

  • Insecticide Spray works for anti –Larval work

  • Disinfectants spray work like belching power/Hypochlorite/varies solution and Phenyl etc.

Operting section of Battery Operated Knapsack Sprayer:-

Fit the appropriate nozzle for the spray pattern required

Open the tank lid but do not remove the filling filter from the tank opening

Pour the required volume of spray liquid into the tank

Replace the tank lid and tighten.

Place the sprayer on the operator’s back and adjust the lengths of the straps as necessary, using the buckles
