ABOUT THE CENTRE


First Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) Model EM-410 LS from Philips, Holland was purchased by University and installed around sometime in June 1985 in the Central Electron Microscope Facility. This instrument served the teaching community for about more than two decades and now is a part of the museum of the Zoology Department, AMU. (Late) Prof. Mahdi Hasan, Padam Shree, Department of Anatomy, JNMC was appointed first Professor In-charge and served the Centre till his retirement.


The UNIVERSITY SOPHISTICATED INSTRUMENTS FACILITY (USIF) was established in the year 2011 as an independent Central Instrumentation Facility. With the initial generous funding from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) Program, the University has acquired state of art ultra-high-resolution Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Single Crystal X-Ray Diffractometer (SC-XRD), Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS), Micro Raman Spectroscopy facilities and also USIF has acquired Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope (CLSM) facility under DBT BUILDER Program. This facility is not open to only academic staff/scientists/research scholars of Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh but also invites users from other academic institutions, research laboratories, and industries.
