The HRDC also conducts various programmes for professional and socio-economic development of specific groups. These include language proficiency classes, social harmony awareness, literary and cultural programmes and visits and tours for the participants.

Relevant study material is provided and an impact analysis is done at the completion of the course, by taking feedback from the Course Participants. The infrastructure available at the HRDC is centered towards smooth organization of the courses by computer aided education and ensuring decent accommodation, including conveyance, boarding and food for the residential participants.

Awareness and Sensitization for Communal Harmony Awareness

 As the HRDC premises are a haven for inter religious/caste/state interaction of University/ Centreteachers from all over India all opportunities of promoting national integration are utilized to the optimum. Written assignments and seminar presentations are given to participants on topics related to communal harmony.

Through its cultural programmes, Essay Writing Competition and Debates the Centrestrives to infuse the spirit of harmony among the course participants, cutting across the labels of region, culture,  ethnicity and linguistic groups.

180 pages book Perspectives on National Integration, Viva Books, New Delhi, 2013, ISBN: 978-81-309-2274-4. This volume of papers on National Integration is distributed as Study Material to the UGC HRDC course participants.

Evening Classes for learning English, Hindi and Urdu

The Centreorganizes free of charge classes for learning English, Hindi and Urdu for the beginners. Urdu class in particular has been a great success.

Literary Evenings

Eminent English/ Hindi and Urdu creative writers are invited to literary evenings organized for course participants. Some of the participants also make their presentations in their respective mother tongues.

Cultural Evenings

The Centreorganizes Cultural Evenings for promoting unity in diversity. 

 Visits/Tours

Heritage walk to S S Hall (South) / Sir Syed House/Maulana Azad Library/Science Lab/Ibn Sina Heritage Academy/ Biodiversity Site at the University Fort and Orphanage.

The English leading daily, The Hindu published an article "Teach and Reach"
on 21 May 2013, commending our Centrefor helping the orphans.

Material on Higher Education

For sensitizing the course participants to the issues and challenges in the field of Higher Education the Centrehas compiled relevant material into the files kept in the Centrelibrary. Participants are encouraged to read and discuss this material.

Fully Sponsored Projects: completed / undergoing / under active consideration

Fruits of Academic Collaboration between the American Centre, New Delhi and the UGC HRDC, Aligarh Muslim University (2008-2013)

Since 2008 our UGC HRDC has organized the Access English Language Skills programme, sponsored by the American Centre, US Embassy, New Delhi for the benefit of the AMU School children. So far 500 AMU School children have received this useful skills enhancement training. The last batch of 200 students received their certificates on 8th April 2013 from the US Embassy Officials and Vice Chancellor. 100 students were given Kindle (e-books) by the US Embassy Officials. As in the past, RELO, American Centre, US Embassy, New Delhi, has been approached for its fully sponsored Access (EAMP) project for imparting English language skills to the AMU School students.

Fulbright Language Assistant (FLA) Training Programme:

Over the years the HRDC has been organizing training programme for the AMU students and research scholars to apply for the one year FLA scholarships in the US. So far 12 students have visited the US.

Teaching Training Programmes for Iraqi Faculty:

Two Teaching programmes for Iraqi Faculty were organised in October and November 2012 respectively. These were held in collaboration with the Delhi Cultural Office, Embassy of Iraq, New Delhi. Training was given to a total number of 58 Iraqi Faculty from various disciplines and the programmes were fully sponsored by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology.

International Seminar on Higher Education

The Centreorganised an International Seminar on Higher education sponsored by the NUEPA (National University of Educational Planning and Administration), New Delhi in 2010. It was graced by  Prof. Gordon Campbell from Leicester University, UK and Prof. Elizabeth Grant from UCL, UK.
