19-November 2022Resident doctors of the Department of Dermatology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) went on a winning streak in the ‘40th Annual Conference of IADVL- CUTICON UP-UK 2022’ at Gorakhpur by bagging top prizes in award paper, free paper, poster and quiz competitions.

Dr Hania Qamar got the first prize in the award paper contest; she also secured third place in the poster competition. Dr Saima Naaz received the second prize for presenting a free paper and Dr Monika Kulhari finished third in the award paper contest.

Dr Saima and Dr Monika also stood first in the state-level National Quiz held in the conference. They have qualified to the finals of National IADL-GSK National Quiz Program for Postgraduates (IGNQPP) 2022-23.

“These prizes are a result of sheer hard work and efforts of the resident doctors. I am sure that their achievements will go a long way to inspire others”, said Prof Syed Suhail Amin (Chairman, Department of Dermatology).  

10-February-2019: Dr Fatima-Tuz-Zahra, Junior Resident-II, Department of Dermatology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University has been awarded Prof D K Gupta Medal for best paper presentation by a female postgraduate student during the annual conference "Dermacon India 2019", held at Bangalore.

Prof Syed Suhail Amin, Chairman, Department of Dermatology and other faculty members have congratulated Dr Zahra on this achievement.

05-December 2018: The Department of Dermatology, J N Medical College, held a condolence meeting at the sad demise of Prof Mohammad Tahseen, a senior retired teacher of the department.

Moving a condolence resolution, Prof Syed Suhail Amin, Chairman of the department, said that Prof Tahseen was a widely respected and fondly loved teacher and mentored the young teacher of the department. His demise is a big loss to the department and we share the sorrow with his family in this hour of grief.

04-December 2018: Prof Tahseen's demise condoled. The staff and students of the Faculty of Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University expressed a sense of deep sorrow and grief on the sad demise of Prof. Mohammad Tahseen, a retired teacher, Department of Dermatology, J N Medical College who passed away recently after a prolonged illness.

Addressing a condolence meeting, Prof H S Khan, Dean, Faculty of Medicine said that Prof Tahseen's demise was a big loss and he will be remembered for his humane and knowledgeable personality. Prof Khan said that the "condolence meeting places on record its profound grief on his demise and conveys heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the members of the bereaved family"

20-November 2018: Aligarh Muslim University's Department of Dermatology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) Junior Residents, Dr Iti Varshney and Dr Hera Tabassum won the first prize for their paper on 'Topical Corticosteroid Abuse-Risk Factors and Consequences' at 36th Annual Conference of IADVL UP-UK, Kanpur and the first prize for their poster on 'Lipoid Proteinosis-A Rare Case Report' during CUTICON-2018 at Nanital.

Prof Syed Suhail Amin, Chairman, Department of Dermatology, JNMC congratulated Dr Iti and Dr Hera for their achievements.

27-October 2018: Dr Hania Qamar Khan, Junior Resident (II), Department of Dermatology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University secured first position for paper presentation at the 3rd International Conference on Aesthetic Asia held at Jaipur. She presented her paper on "Study of efficacy of platelet-rich plasma in treatment of melasma".

In another event of Quiz, Dr Hania, along with her colleague, Dr Divya Agrawal, Junior Resident (II), achieved second position.

Prof Syed Suhail Amin, Chairman, Department of Dermatology, JNMC and other faculty members have congratulated Dr Hania and Dr Divya Agrawal on their achievement.

20-March, 2018: Two M D (Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy) students of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Dr Mahtab Alam and Dr Annu Priya secured the first place in North Zone Association of Cutaneous Surgeons of India (ACSI) Quiz, organized by ACSI and now will compete on national level. These JNMC students will travel to the competition venue in April 2018.

Prof Syed Suhail Amin (Chairperson, Department of Dermatology, JNMC) and other faculty members have congratulated Dr Alam and Dr Priya for the success.

Meanwhile the Postgraduate Medical Education Committee (PMEC) has recognised the JNMC run M D (Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy) course. This M D course has a yearly intake of two students selected through NEET examination.

11-October, 2017: Dr Dinesh Raj R (Junior Resident, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical CollegeJNMC, Aligarh Muslim University) has won the third place in the 'Torrent Young Scholar Award 2017' (Dermatology) competition in the zonal category during the Sixth Derma Fest held at New Delhi. He will now participate in the final round scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on December 3, 2017.

Prof S Suhail Amin (Chairperson, Department of Dermatology) has congratulated Dr Dinesh for the achievement. Dr Dinesh is a student of MD (Dermatology) in JNMC.

24-MAR-2017: Prof S Suhail Amin, Chairman, Department of Dermatology, J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University attended the Second Annual Conference of Association of Clinical Dermatologists of India, "CLINICON 2017" which was held in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Prof Amin also chaired a session after which he was felicitated by the organizers of the conference in recognition of his contributions in the field of clinical dermatology.

01-MAY-2014: A new course of MD DVL (Dermatology) with an annual intake of two students has been introduced at JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University from the session 2014-2015. Dr Mohd Mohtashim, who stood third in PG entrance test, has opted for this course.

The Medical Council of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India has already given its permission to start the course.

Professor S Bano, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Professor Tariq Mansoor, Principal, JN Medical College and Dr S Suhail Amin, Chairman, Department of Dermatology played an important role in launching this course.

05-DEC-2013: Dr Syed Suhail Amin, Chairman, Department of Dermatology, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University has been honored with Appreciation Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of Dermatology. The award was conferred on him during the International Symposium on Contact Dermatitis and National Conference on CODFI 2013, held at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and SMS Medical College, Jaipur.

Dr Suhail Amin also chaired the award paper session and judged the papers presented in the conference. Prominent dermatologists from all over India and outside the country attended the conference. Dr Amin interacted with faculty members of different medical colleges from India and outside.

06-MARCH-2013: The Pro Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Brigadier S. Ahmad Ali inaugurated the Laser and Whole Body Puva Chambers for Cosmolaser Therapy and Phototherapy at the Skin OPD of J. N. Medical College Hospital under the management of Department of Dermatology, Aligarh Muslim University.

Brigadier Ali said expressed happiness over starting the laser therapy at the Department of Dermatology for maximum level of cure to the patients. Brigadier Ali said that the next target of University admission is to start a Cathlab at the Centre of Cardiology where patients will get facility of angiography and angioplasty etc. He also assured that PG Courses will be started soon not only in the Department of Dermatology but also in other Departments. Pro Vice Chancellor said that he wanted to see this college get a place in the topmost medical colleges of India.

Prof. M. Ashraf Malik, Principal and Chief Medical Superintendent of the College said that the establishment of laser and whole body Puva chamber at the Hospital is another feather in the cap of this college. He said that with the addition, the college had become first in Western UP where laser therapy facility was available.

Prof. MH Beg, Dean, Faculty of Medicine said it was a big day in the history of Faculty of Medicine. He said that the facility would benefit not only the patients but also help in the training of students. He said that the toppers of the medical college were attracted to MD Dermatology.

Dr. Syed Suhail Amin, Chairman of the Department said that the Department came into existence in 1992 after the bifurcation of Department of Medicine and achieved a distinguished place for it in due course of time. He said that the department had been providing cure to a large number of patients, most of whom came with the complaints of pimples, unwanted hair growths, spots on face etc. He said that these problems would be cured with the help of laser techniques and these developments will provide an extended medical facility to the patients suffering from a large variety of skin problems.

Dr. Suhail Amin said that India had the largest number of patients of Leukoderma and the patients of Psoriases were also growing fast. He said that the laser therapy has made it possible to cure the chronic diseases like Psoriases and Eczema in a short span of time. He said that now the patients would not have to go to large cities for their skin problems.

Prof. Mohd. Tehsin proposed a vote of thanks while Dr. Urfi conducted the programme. On this occasion, a large number of faculty members were present.
