REPORT OF THE 2 DAY INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Malappuram: On 2022 January 5th
and 6th

Department Of Education, Aligarh Muslim University Malappuram Centre in collaboration with Department Of Education, University Of Kerala organised a Two Day International Conference on the theme “Discoursing Education for Mental Health” on 5th
& 6th
January 2022. Paper presentations were also invited on nine different sub themes related to Mental Health. It was also decided to publish the selected papers in an edited book. The goal of “Discoursing Education for Mental Health” is to facilitate voluntary health related behavioural and social change through the use of principles of behavioural and social sciences. 1020 registrations were there from India, UAE, USA, UK, Germany, Australia, Ireland, Africa, Lakshadweep, Bahrain etc.

The chief guest invited for the inaugural function was Prof. Sajid Jamal, Department of Education, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. . He highlighted the importance and relevance of Mental Health conference in the present Covid 19 situation. Dr. Faisal K.P, Director, AMU MC inaugurated the function. Dr. Mohammed Basheer, Coordinator, Department of Education gave the welcome address and Prof. Geetha Janet Vitus, Professor and Dean, Department of Education, University of Kerala presided the session.

The conference programme was divided into 6 Plenary Sessions and 5 technical sessions. The Resource Persons of the 6 Plenary Sessions were Carlos Trindade from University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Prof. Nasrin, Department of Education, AMU, Aligarh, Dr. Maxwell D Uduafemhe, Principal Research Officer, National Open University of Nigeria,
Prof. Mohammad Amjad Kamal from Novel Global Community Educational Foundation, Australia, Dr. Noora Abdul Kader, Department of Education, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh and Dr. Rommel V Tabula, Faculty of Education, University Bangkok, Thailand.

The chairpersons for the 5 Technical sessions were

University of Kerala. From each session one best paper was selected for the best paper award. In total 35 papers were presented during the conference which include a range of mental health issues, challenges, psychological issues, learning disabilities, adjustment problems and challenges in online learning

Prof. Mujiibul Hasan Siddiqui, Chairperson and Head, Department of Education, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh was the chief guest for the closing ceremony. He expressed his appreciation for organising the event and mentioned the significance of catering mental health in the current scenario.
On each day around 125 participants were there in each session. Dr. Sameer Babu M, Assistant Professor, University of Kerala and Dr. Babitha Ann Joseph, AMU MC were the Organising Secretaries of the event. The speakers and participants appreciated the efforts of the organising team for promoting the mental health.

Report on B.Ed Students Induction Program (Batch 2021-2023)

 

The induction program for the B.Ed. first-year students batch 2021-2023 was conducted on 13/01/2022. The induction program was conducted online through the Google meet platform.

The objectives of Students Induction Program were to Make the students feel comfortable in the new environment, allow them to explore their academic interests and activities, to reduce competition and make them work for excellence, to build a strong relationship between teachers and students , to give a broader view of life and to help them to build a good character. 

This type of induction program for newly admitted students was conducted every year before the commencement of the first semester classes.

The objective of the Induction program was to demystify newly admitted students about the University, department and the course so that students do not face any problems when the regular class commences.

The Orientation Program started with reading of verses from the Holy Quran by B.Ed Final year class representative Mr. Mohd. Arshad. 

Dr. Sadaf Jafri, Asst. Prof., Dept of Education  addressed and welcomed Director Dr. Faisal K.P, Coordinator Dept. of Education Dr. Mohammad Basheer K, Asst. Registrar Mr. Mohammad Ahazam, Dean Students Welfare Dr. Najmudeen T, all faculty members, B.Ed students of final batch and all freshers. She congratulated all students for selecting one of the best Universities and Noblest Profession.

During the program the students received warm welcome and insights about the AMU, Malappuram Centre by our Hon'ble Director Dr. Faisal K.P.

Mr. M. Ahazam Khan (Assistant Registrar) talked about office procedures and Dr. Najmuddeen T. introduced students about various scholarship schemes and portals.

An introduction about the Department of Education was given by the Coordinator Dr. Mohammad. Basheer K. A short talk on NCTE Framework was made by Dr. Syed. Hayath Basha. Dr. Mohd Basith PP talked about admission and internship activities of B.Ed program. Dr. Firoz Ahmed briefed about discipline, rules and regulations about the department. Dr. Haris. C gave a short description about departmental labs and various activities organized by different clubs. Dr. Babitha Ann Joseph shared information about library, digital resources, research and extension activities.

Total 45  students participated in the Induction program along with all 8 faculty members of the Department of Education. During the program, the students were asked to introduce themselves by using some quotation or poetry lines in order to overcome their hesitation. Through an online platform students interacted with all faculty members. The purpose of this induction program was to build strong relationships with students and help them in smooth transition through familiarization with institutional policies, processes, practices, culture and values.

 Ms. Sadaf Khatoon (B.Ed final year student) proposed a vote of thanks followed by University Tarana and National Anthem. Coordinator, Department of Education thanked and appreciated all those who contributed to the success of the induction program.
