Faculty of International Studies

About the Faculty

  1. The Faculty of International Studies (FIS) is a newly established Faculty of the University. It was established in June 2015.  The names of the Departments under the Faculty of International Studies are:


    1. Department of West Asian Studies and North African Studies
    2. Department of Foreign Languages
    3. Department of Strategic and Security Studies
    4. Department of South African and Brazilian Studies

    The Department of West Asian Studies and North African Studies offers an MA programme in International & West Asian Studies and imparts teaching a part-time Diploma in West Asian Studies.  Besides this Department offers a full-time PhD programme.


    The Department of Foreign Languages offers a full-time six Semester BA (Hons.) Course in Foreign Languages: (Chinese, French, German, Russian and Spanish) with an intake of 100 students. From the Session 2018-19, MA in Foreign Languages was started with an intake of 10 students in each of the five languages.


    Department of Strategic and Security Studies offers Open Elective Courses to the students enrolled in Graduate and Postgraduate courses in the Departments under the Faculty of International Studies. The Department is also offering PhD in Strategic, Security and Peace Studies. The Department will start a four-semester full-time programme MA in International Politics from 2021-22 with an intake of 10 students.


    Department of South African and Brazilian Studies offers a full-time PhD programme. Two PhDs were awarded in the Department in the year 2020.


    Besides, several other academic activities are in the pipeline under various Departments.
