Dr. Jamal Ahmad Khan is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Applied Physics, AMU, Aligarh. Dr. Khan did his PhD under the supervision of Prof. J.P. Singh at GLAD and NANO-CVD Lab, Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi after completing his graduate and postgraduate studies from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). His doctoral research work was focused on flexible inorganic thermoelectric generators, phonon dynamics in kinked and low-dimensional structures, thermal transport engineering, and device-level integration for smart and wearable technologies. During his doctoral work, he has successfully worked on several International and national projects in collaboration with different eminent institutions including National Yang Ming Chio Tung University (NYCU) Taiwan, Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and IIT Bombay. He did his B.Sc (Hons) in Physics and M.Sc. in Physics from AMU in the year 2014 and 2016, respectively. He further earned his M.Tech degree in Nanotechnology from the Interdisciplinary Nanotechnology Centre, ZHCET, AMU in 2018.
During his PhD and M.Tech research, he published total 8 research papers in peer reviewed international journals (as on December 2025) such as ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy and so on. He has also filed 1 patent during his PhD. Dr. Khan has visited several countries including France, Poland, Singapore and Austria for conferences and research purposes.
Dr. Khan’s doctoral work has gained international recognition. He has received the Prestigious Graduate Student Award and a Cash prize of 350 Euros from European Materials Research Society (EMRS) in E-MRS Fall Meeting and Exhibit 2022, held in Warsaw University of Technology, Poland. He was the recipient of the prestigious University Gold Medal and Department Gold Medal for securing first position in the Department and among all branches of the Faculty of Engineering, respectively, during his M.Tech. program. He has received Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) under the DST-PURSE programme in Department of Applied Physics, AMU. He also qualified GATE in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
