  1. On 'The Mirror of Beauty' the Magnum Opus of Shamsur Rahman Faruqi
Orhan Pamuk describes Shamsur Rahman Faruqi’s novel The Mirror of Beauty as ‘an erudite, amazing historical novel, elegiac in tone and written with heartfelt attention to the details and the rituals of a lost culture’. The novel was originally written in Urdu and was published in 2006 entitled “Ka’i Chand The Sar-e-Aasmaan. Faruqi translated the novel himself into English and published it in 2013 as The Mirror of Beauty. Orhan Pamuk’s description of the novel very aptly captures all the best characteristics of the novel Faruqi wished to incorporate in the book.
The present paper explores The Mirror of Beauty ?as historical and postcolonial novel recreating the culture and civilization of the last phase of the Mughal rule giving way to British colonial rule.?
