Assistant Professor of English (Contractual), Aligarh Muslim University | Senior Research Fellow and Doctoral Candidate | Founder of SHABD India

I specialize in Theatre and Postcolonial Studies, with a growing focus on Digital Humanities. My academic journey bridges traditional literary analysis with emerging digital methodologies, reflecting the dynamic evolution of humanities research. While my doctoral work explores the spatial politics of Badal Sircar’s theatre, my current research interests lie at the intersection of digital innovation and the humanities, particularly within postcolonial contexts.

Professional Highlights:

  • Assistant Professor of English (Contractual) at Aligarh Muslim University
  • Founder of SHABD India (Scholarly Humanities Alliance for Bhasha and Digitalisation in India), a platform dedicated to promoting digital storytelling, translation, and the preservation of linguistic diversity
  • Creator of Zara’s Odyssey, an experimental non-linear digital story blending Urdu and English narratives, showcasing the potential of electronic literature to bridge linguistic and cultural divides
  • Core member of Elit India, a pioneering collective advancing Digital Humanities and Electronic Literature in India
  • 7-time UGC NET qualifier and recipient of the prestigious Maulana Azad National Fellowship
  • Published research exploring diverse cultural and theoretical frameworks
  • Presented at esteemed international conferences, including the Electronic Literature Organization Conference in Portugal
  • Experienced organizer of academic events and workshops, integrating classical literature with digital innovation

My expertise in English literature, combined with a deep engagement with digital tools and methods, enables me to approach research with a distinct, interdisciplinary lens. As the founder of SHABD India, I am committed to creating a community-driven platform that leverages digital humanities to amplify marginalized voices and promote multilingual cultural exchanges.

Currently, my work focuses on the transformative impact of digital technologies on humanities scholarship and education. I am also engaged in projects that analyze how postcolonial and subaltern narratives are being reimagined in digital contexts.

I actively seek collaboration with researchers in Digital Humanities and Data Science, particularly in areas such as Postcolonial Digital Humanities, Subaltern DH, and Indian DH. My goal is to foster projects that integrate traditional humanities expertise with digital methodologies, offering innovative perspectives in academic and pedagogical contexts.
