Dr. Siddhartha Chakraborti

Dr Siddhartha Chakraborti is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), India. He holds a PhD and MA in English from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, where he topped his PG cohort. He earned his BA (Hons) from Presidency College, Kolkata. His doctoral research focused on Decolonisation in the Indian Context.

He has taught for over a decade at premier institutions including AMU, JNU, the University of Delhi (Dyal Singh College), NMIMS (School of Liberal Arts, Mumbai), and (Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur. He has served as a Course Instructor at JNU and Course Coordinator for the GIAN programme at AMU in collaboration with the University of Bergen (UiB), Norway.

Dr Chakraborti has been a research fellow under multiple prestigious international programmes, including the DAAD (Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, Germany), UKIERI (collaborating with Bangor University, UK; West Virginia University, USA; and JNU), and Michigan State University, USA. He was also a Fellow under the UGC SAP programme at JNU. He is an Academic Counsellor for Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) MA courses and has served as the Assistant Coordinator of the IGNOU Study Centre 2713.

At AMU, he has served as a Member of the Executive Committee of the AMU Teachers’ Association (AMUTA), a Program Officer for the National Service Scheme (NSS) at AMU, and the Fulbright Campus Representative for AMU. He was also the President of the University Hobbies Workshop (UHW) under the Cultural Education Centre (CEC), AMU.

He is a life member of the Indian Association of Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies (IACLALS), the Indian Association for the Study of Australia (IASA), and the Indian Disability Studies Collective (IDSC), helping host and coordinate their national conferences. He is a founding member of the Digital Humanities Alliance for Research and Teaching Initiatives (DHARTI) and also Secretary of the award-winning Aligarh Chapter of the English Language Teachers’ Association of India (ELT@I).

Dr Chakraborti has 20 publications and has presented over thirty conferences across Asia, Europe, and North America. He has organised more than forty academic seminars and workshops, including six international conferences. He has also designed ten new courses at AMU, including pioneering syllabi on Digital Literatures at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

In his spare time, he enjoys photography and computer games.
