Dr. Syed Imran Shafiq is an Associate Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Section, University Polytechnic, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh. He holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing from the University of Newcastle, Australia, where his research focused on "Using Decisional DNA to enhance Industrial Design and Manufacturing." Dr. Shafiq also holds a Master's in Computer Applications (MCA) and a Master's in Technology (M. Tech) in Industrial and Production Engineering, both from AMU.

His research interests lie in the fields of Industry 4.0, Knowledge Engineering, and Knowledge Representation and Management, particularly as they apply to industrial design and manufacturing, flexible manufacturing systems, and simulation. Dr. Shafiq has published 45 papers in prestigious international journals, including the International Journal of Production Research (Taylor and Francis), Future Generation Computer Systems (Elsevier), Cybernetics and Systems (Taylor and Francis), and the Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems (IOS Press).

Dr. Shafiq has received several international accolades, including scholarships from the University of Newcastle, as well as awards in the 3MT thesis and Post-Graduate Research Competitions. He has also served as a researcher at the Vicomtech-IK4 Research Foundation in San Sebastian, Spain, and actively reviews for various international journals. His work has been presented at international conferences across India, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom.

In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Shafiq holds extensive experience in university administration. His roles include Associate Member-in-Charge of the Central Automobile Workshop (CAW), Coordinator of the B.Voc/M.Voc programs, Coordinator of the P.G. Diploma in Industrial Safety and Fire Prevention, Assistant Superintendent of Examinations, and In-Charge of UP Government’s TPEC/CFC schemes, among others.
