Begum Azeezun Nisa Hall of Aligarh Muslim University is a Hall of residence for girls with the capacity of accommodating 1500 female students.

‘Hard work always pays off’ is quite true in the context ofBegum Azeezun Nisa Hall. Professor Subuhi Khan was appointed as Provost on 25th of August 2018. She took charge of administrative duties at a time when even the infrastructural facilities were yet to be completed.
Shesaw through the nitty gritties of the construction process and other required facilities and made sure that residents have a comfortable stay as and when they join. The First Meeting for the purpose of making the Hall functional was held on 27th August, 2018under the Chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor. The meeting was attended by theRegistrar, DSW, Proctor, Provost andother important officials of the University. After careful deliberationsand on the request of the Provost, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor sanctioned an adequate amount for the purchase of essential items for the Hall.

Initially, all administrative works were carried out from the Office Chamber of Professor Subuhi Khan at Department of Mathematics. The Provost Office of the Hall has become functional on 1st November, 2018. The Registrar, Mr. Abdul Hamid, IPS held several meetings with the Provost and other officials of the University in the Hall. The Provost with the support and cooperation of the Vice Chancellor, Registrar and other officials of the University took all the feasible steps for making the Hall functional in shortest possible time.TheProvost and Wardens kept no stone unturned to provide the best possible facilities for the overall development of the Resident Students.

The Block–II of Hall has become functional with Mess and other required facilities on 10th January, 2019 with two Resident Wardens and tenResident Students. Later, around 700 Graduate and Post Graduate Students from Indira Gandhi Hall were shifted in three Hostels of Block-II.  On the other hand, the construction work of Block-I was under process at that time. The Hall has become fully functional in February, 2020 with the shifting of Medical Students and Research Scholars from Sarojini Naidu Hall to Block-Iof the Hall.

The Hall has got its name as Begum Azeezun Nisa Hall after the name of the beloved mother of the Founder of the University, Sir Syed Ahmad Khanon 1st April, 2019.The names of six Hostels of the Hall were also approved on the same date. The Hall was formerly inaugurated on 19th September, 2019

Block- I consists of three Hostels viz., Sikandar Jahan Begum Hostel, Hamida Habibullah Hostel and Kadambini Ganguly Hostel. The Block-II consists of three Hostels viz., Begum Hazrat Mahal Hostel, Annie Besant Hostel and Madam Cama Hostel.

The Hall provides various facilities which includes Dining Hall(the food served to the residents is of good quality and cooked with proper hygiene), Hostel Accommodation, Laundry, Wi-Fi, Generator Facility, Air-conditioned Reading Rooms, Common Room, Computer Room, Prayer Rooms,Geysers, Water Coolers, well-equipped Gymnasium and ATM. Heartfelt attemptis
made to provide the excellent infrastructure and beautiful eco-friendly environment to the resident students. The provost and wardens tried their level best with every possible amenity to make the stay of the students away from home a comfortable one.
A special feature of the Hall is a friendlyinfrastructurefor Differently-Abled Students.

From 15th August, 2020 a massive Plantation Drive (0 – 1000 Trees) was started in the Hall. At present the Hall has more than one thousand trees, plants, herbs, shrubs, ornamental plantsetc. The Hall also developed Herbal Garden, Kitchen Garden and Fruit Garden and an Open- Air Reading Corner.

Herbal Garden- One of the remarkable achievements in the Hall is the establishment of the ‘Herbal Garden’.  With the dream of making the Hall green and a mission of planting more than 1000 trees in the Hall, the Provost of the Hall Professor Subuhi Khan came up with a novel idea of creating aHerbal Garden in the Hall premise to celebrate 100 years of Aligarh Muslim University. The Herbal Garden provides a wide variety of plant species consisting of various medicinal herbs and shrubs which are helpful in curative treatment methods beneficial for human body. The Herbal Garden was inaugurated by Dr. Hameeda Tariq (Renowned Pediatrician) on 28th November, 2020. Herbal Garden is the result of consistent efforts that are being put to enrich the flora and fauna of the University so that it can be a role model for others to follow.

The Begum Azeezun Nisa Hall has the maximum accommodation capacity of around 1500 female studentsThe Students enrolled in various courses are staying in the Hall.
