Dr. Syed Hussain Haider was born in Patna in 1969. He completed his early education there and joined AMU for his Higher Education as the fourth generation AMU student as his family’s association with Aligarh Muslim University dates back to 1902. Dr. Hussain Haider completed his MA in Modern Indian History and in his pursuit of further studies he was awarded M.Phil. in Modern Indian History and thereafter he received Ph.D. in History from Aligarh Muslim University.

     Dr. Hussain Haider joined Sir Syed Academy in 2014 and presently he is serving as University Archivist in Sir Syed Academy. He has been the Coordinator and Organizing secretary of the International Seminars, National Seminars and Symposia organized by Sir Syed Academy. As part of his academic life, he has been invited as Resource Person in the HRDC-UGC programmes and in the academic activities of the Indira Gandhi National Open University, Regional Centre, Aligarh. Dr. Hussain Haider has chaired academic sessions of International and National Seminars and has extensively participated in Conferences and Seminars. He has many research papers to his credit in reputed journals and has been the Associate Editor of the UGC approved journal, Journal of Distance Education and Management Research, AMU in 2013.

Prior to joining Sir Syed Academy, Dr. Hussain Haider was associated with the Centre of Distance education, AMU, where he was appointed AMU Coordinator of South Asia Foundation, India (SAF) for distribution of scholarships among Journalism and Mass Communications students of CDE. He was appointed Observer and Examination Superintendent for the outstation study centers of CDE AMU in 2008. He has also served as the Coordinator of Research Methodology Workshop, AMU Administrative Staff training workshop and Journalism and Mass Communication programmes of the Centre of Distance and Online education, AMU in 2012-13. He was also nominated by the Vice-Chancellor as one of the members of the Inspection Committees for approving the study Centres of CDE, AMU in Hyderabad, Meerut and Moradabad. Dr. Haider has taken classes of graduate and post graduate history course in the personal contact programmes of CDE and has also been the Course Writer of MA History. Dr. Haider is also serving as Assistant Coordinator of AMU-IGNOU Study Centre from 2018 with specific responsibilities of counselor appointments and conducting all India exams of IGNOU in the AMU Centre as Assistant Superintendent, Examinations. As Archive In-charge In the Sir Syed Academy, Dr. Hussain Haider has actively helped scholars from India and abroad especially from Germany and UK in their studies of Aligarh Movement. The researches of Dr. Haider with the specialization in the History of Educational Institutions during the Colonial Period of India, played an important role while extending  his services in the Research and Publications of Sir Syed Academy which he carried out under the supervision of the Director of the Academy, Prof. Syed Ali Mohammad Naqvi and Deputy Director, Dr. Mohammad Shahid which culminated in an outstanding research output on the history of AMU, Life and Times of Sir Syed, MAO College and Aligarh Movement in the Sir Syed Academy during the last six years.
