Interdisciplinary Centre for Artificial Intelligence

Interdisciplinary Centre for Artificial Intelligence

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Artificial Intelligence was established in the year 2019 in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology after the approval by the Executive Council, Aligarh Muslim University.

One of the major objectives of the establishment of this Centre is to promote interdisciplinary research and development activities in Artificial Intelligence and its allied fields including Machine learning, Data Analytics, Natural language processing, etc. The faculty members attached to this Centre are from different fields of Engineering and Science with international exposure and a good publication record.

The Centre offers B.Tech and M.Tech programs in Artificial Intelligence. The Centre also aims to start doctoral research programme in the area of Artificial Intelligence. The Centre is poised to prepare the students to demonstrate technical competence in their profession by applying knowledge of contemporary advances in AI for providing practical and innovative solutions.

The Centre seeks to produce trained and skilled manpower to solve real-world practical problems and fulfil the industrial needs of Engineering, Healthcare, Financial, R&D industry etc.

The Centre also aims to facilitate sponsored research and consultancy in the field of AI.

VISION AND MISSION OF THE CENTRE

Vision

To become an internationally recognized centre for higher learning in the area of artificial intelligence education, research and innovation.

Mission

      1. To provide excellent education and promote interdisciplinary research in artificial intelligence, prospectively leading to startups.
      2. To provide trained and skilled manpower to solve real-world problems through realms of artificial intelligence research.
      3. To promote ethical, transparent and inclusive applications of artificial intelligence.
      4. To foster academia-business collaborations in the area of artificial intelligence.

M.TECH PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POs)

Students should develop:

PO-1: An ability to independently carry out research/investigation and development work to solve practical problems.

PO-2: An ability to write and present a substantial technical report/document.

PO-3: Students should be able to demonstrate a degree of mastery over the area as per the specialization of the program. The mastery should be at a level higher than the requirements in the appropriate bachelor program.

PO-4: Adapt to the contemporary trends and best practices of industry and research standards and thereby innovate Artificial Intelligence based solutions to real-world problems pertinent to societal and environmental needs.

B.TECH PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POs) AND PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)

B.Tech Program Outcomes (POs) :

The students should gain:

PO-1: Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO-2: Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.

PO-3: Design/Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO-4: Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

PO-5: Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO-6: The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

PO-7: Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

PO-8: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

PO-9: Individual and Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

PO-10: Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

PO-11: Project Management and Finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

PO-12: Life-long Learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

B.Tech Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs):

PSO-1: Design and develop intelligent systems as a solution to real life problems.
PSO-2: Apply technical and soft skills suited to industry and follow professional practices.
PSO-3: Develop Artificial Intelligence based methods to address diverse needs of the community for improving the quality of life and environment.
