Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib (Preventive and Social Medicine) is a part of Faculty of Unani medicine, Aligarh Muslim University. This department is imparting health education at the Under graduate and Post graduate levels. From the day of its inception i.e. 1997 the department, on the academic platform, has endorsed 18 research scholars to whom M.D in Hifzan -e- Sehat degree has been awarded. At present two research scholars are enthusiastically pursuing in their research work. The department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib also imparts training to the Interns in relation to the routine immunization, field survey, data collection and statistical analysis.

The department is working in collaboration with District Health Administration to boost public and community health. The department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib devotedly participating in the Pulse Polio campaigns, Leprosy Eradication Campaigns, Hepatitis B Immunization Programmes and several other community health related programmes at local and district levels. The department has organized Symposia, National and International Seminars.

The department is covering the subject of Nutrition, Epidemiology, Multidimensional aspects of Pollutions, Environmental Studies, Communicable & Non Communicable Diseases, Demography, Maternal Health, Family Planning, Neonatal Care and Geriatrics. The related section of the Museum is equipped with all type of health & fitness related sophisticated equipments including digital body fat analyzer, infrared thermometer, infrared weighing machine, nerve simulators, padeometer, compact gym (COSCO), elliptical bike and tread mill, all type of water filters, water and air pollution analyzing kits, well defined mounted charts, 3D charts, flip charts, vaccination kits. (Working and non working model).

This department also imparting education of Tibbe Qanooni wa Ilmus Samoom (Forensic Medicine & Toxicology) which is covering illustrative knowledge on the subject of Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Entomology, thanatlogy, dactylography, modes of deaths, all sorts of injuries (Including Firearm Injuries), Procedure of Postmortem and Toxicology. This department is also imparting the advance and latest knowledge of Forensic Medicine at UG level. The Forensic Medicine Section of the department Museum has a huge collection of Digital charts, 3D models, human skeleton, animal and plant origin poisons, specimens of different verities of snakes, scorpions, lizards and poisonous bees, dummies of weapons.

The department is also maintaining full fledged Seminar library having a collections of more than 1000 books including the rare books on the subject of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib. Wifi audio visual facilities for the purpose of UG/PG teachings and for the trainings of Interns are also available in the department.
