Dr. Abdul Malik is Professor and Chairman (Head: 2008-2011, 2015-17 & 2020-till date), Department of Agricultural Microbiology. Dr. Malik has been awarded several International fellowships, awards and honors including DBT CREST Awards of Govt. of India, DAAD Fellowship (Germany), BOYSCAST overseas fellowship to work as Visiting Scientist at the Department of Environmental Microbiology, Technical University Berlin, Germany, Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Fund award etc. Dr. Malik spent one year as visiting Professor at the Albert Ludwig's University of Freiburg, Germany during 2012-13. He has visited TU Berlin, as Visiting Scientist in 2008, 2009 under DAAD-DST, and Universitat klinikum, Freiburg im Breisgau Germany during 2010 under DAAD research programme. Dr. Malik has also visited University of Minho, Portugal as Visiting Professor under DST-FCT programme (2011 & 2014) and Cukurova, University Adana, Turkey under INSA-TUBA scientist exchange programme and under TUBITAK during 2012 and 2018. In July-August 2022, he visited Berliner Hochshule for Technik, Germany as visiting Professor. He has also attended Leadership programme for Academicians (LeAP) and visited Ohio State University, Columbus (USA) during 2019.

Prof. Malik has completed International collaborative research projects with Technical University, Berlin, Germany (DST-DAAD), University of Minho, Braga, Portugal (DST-FCT) and University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK (UKIERI). He has received research grants from several funding agencies of the Govt. of India including DST, CSIR, UGC as Principal Investigator. Currently, Prof. Malik has multi-institutional project with BITS Pilani and Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) sanctioned by Technology Mission Division, Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi of Total Rs. 5.09 Crore (2019-2024).

Dr. Malik has edited Eleven books published by the leading international Publishers and author of more than 100 Research publications in leading scientific journals of the world with high impact factor like Journal of Hazardous Materials, Chemosphere, Science of the Total Environment, FEMS Microbiology, Journal of Applied Microbiology Mutation Research, Ecotoxicology and Environmental safety, Bioresource Technology etc. His major areas of Research are Molecular Microbiology, Environmental Microbiology, Ecotoxicology, and Agricultural Microbiology.
