Architect Nawab Ahmad, the senior most Architect serving at A.M.U. Aligarh since 1986 and founding Chairman of the department of Architecture, passed High School and Intermediate from U.P. Board with regional merits, and B. Sc. (Physics Hons.) from Meerut University in 1975. He passed B. Arch. from Roorkee University (now I.I.T. Roorkee) in 1979-80. After three and half years rigorous private service with private reputed architectural firms at Delhi and Ghaziabad, did his post-graduation in M.U.R.P. (Master of Urban & Rural Planning) again from Roorkee University (now I.I.T. Roorkee) in 1986. Although selected at CIDCO Bombay (responsible for planning & development of New Bombay) and at U.P. Town planning department as Architect-Planner, but joined at A.M.U. Aligarh in March 1986 when personally invited by A.M.U. authorities to establish architectural education at the university. Starting with establishing and running of Diploma in architectural Assistantship since 1985-86, he then made successful efforts for staring of B.Arch. Course at Z.H. College of Engineering. & Technology from 1993-94. He is also credited for starting of M. Arch Course in the department in 2018 and approval for Ph.D. courses at the department. His successful efforts with competent authorities also led for passing/approval for establishing a new faculty in the university i.e. Faculty of Architecture & Planning in 2020, going to be started soon. He established MODROB computer Lab in 2004-05 funded by AICTE. His recording of famous buildings of Islamic Architecture at Aligarh since 1995 was highly appreciated by the U.G.C. and hence sanctioned Centre (of excellence) of Islamic Architecture at this department during XI Plan. He emphasized the role of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan in architectural development of main campus through his one year study of Academic pursuit. He has also published several research papers in A+D, J.I.I.A and regional architecture meets/conferences as well as attended many technical course and delivered lectures at various workshops etc. He is registered as Ph.D. scholar at A.M.U. to study Energy conservation concept at traditional building at Aligarh and region. He had been chairman of the department, Faculty Board of Engineering and Technology, Academic council, University Court and other important bodies/committees several times, as well as selection committee expert of U.P. & Rajasthan states.
