Dr Seema Alam, is currently on a five year assignment at the premier hospital, ILBS, specializing in hepatology and biliary sciences. She has shown her dedication and single minded focus in pediatric gastroenterology, having worked her way up from looking after the Diarrhea Treatment and Training Unit (DTTU) in the1980s, to actively doing pediatric gastroendoscopies and developing a Pediatric Gastroendoscopic Clinic in the JNMC, AMU, Aligarh. She procured an ICMR funded project on Celiac Disease, currently ongoing in the department. She was awarded a 6 months ICMR fellowship at the Pediatric Liver Unit, Kingâ??s College Hospital, London, which later helped her in setting up the first Pediatric Hepatology Department in India at ILBS. She has over 30 papers to her credit, which apart from the (international) Indian J of Pediatrics, the Indian Pediatrics, IJ of Gastroentorology, include Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition (Europe). She is a reviewer for both Indian and Foreign Journals. She was the first and only elected lady member of the AMUâ??s Academic Council.
