I, Dr. Sayeedul Hasan Arif, did my MD (pathology) in 1991.

My date of birth is May 22, 1961. During my studentship, I initially was NRSC from 1977 - 1983, Later, I stayed in Mohd Habib Hall from 1983 to 1986, then Hadi Hasan Hall from 1986 to 1991.

I joined the Department of Pathology, J. N. Medical College, AMU Aligarh (India) as a demonstrator for three years and later joined the central lab as a clinical pathologist in November 1993 for one and a half years. Later, I joined back the department as a lecturer in 1995, was promoted to reader in 2004, and was subsequently promoted to Associate Professor in 2007. Later on, I joined as a professor in 2010 and am presently working on the same post. I was also in charge of the blood bank and the central investigation laboratory from 2006 till 2019.

During my incharge ship in blood bank, it reached to its peak. I introduce with the grace of Almighty, automation in blood bank at every level. At present blood bank is doing automated serology testing and grouping. Testing for infectios diseases (HIV, HBS, & HCV) was also done by automatied machines and prestigious NAT testing was introduced in 2018. This blood bank has become the nodal center for NAT testing and received samples from Kanpur and Agra. Soon other centers will also be included. during my tenure as incharge central lab, automation was introduced for biochemistry and Hematology.

I was member of Medical Education Unit in Faculty of Medicine since 2009 - 2023 and served Hospital in the capacity of DMS from 2011 - 2013. I was also warden of Hadi Hasan Hall from 1995 to 1998. Later I also served as Provost Hadi Hasan Hall from June 2017 till Dec 2019 and also member of executive committee (EC) in the capacity of senior most provost.

Academically, I published more than 70 papers and guided around two a dozen MD thesis. I was awarded Willaim Harvey Award in 2015 on best paper in Hematology published in Photon Journal. Same year I was invited to deliver a talk in Atlanta USA in International Hematology Conference. Earlier I also visited Shanghai China in 2011 to deliver an invited talk on cardiac Markers.

Presently I am chairperson of Dept of Pathology. Since I took charge of chairpersonship in Pathology Department, automated coagulation analyser and automated IHC stainer was procure. Soon we plan to open section of molecular genetics for better diagnosis of cancers for effective treatment.

Our aims for future development is to upgrade the Hematology and hematopathology section so that patients of hematological malignancies would not suffer and establishment of Dept of transfusion medicine.
