Syed Mohammad Safdar Ashraf is Chairman of, the Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib (Preventive & Social Medicine) in the Faculty of Unani Medicine but in addition, has a wider role in the ongoing development and success of Community Medicine at Aligarh in partnership with World health organization and Health administration. He is a graduate of Science & Medicine (Unani) as well as a Doctor of Medicine from AMU, Aligarh. He has professional experience of more than 30 years as a teacher & Principal.  He qualified for PR in Canada under the skilled group of the Govt. He is the Editor of 5 Journal and Founder Editor of the Journal of Integrated Community Health. He authored/Edited  9 books/Chapters along with 62 publications in various Journals including in China, Pakistan, Qatar, London etc. Prof. Ashraf presented his work at 103 national & international conferences & seminars including in Egypt, Turkey, England, France & Sri Lanka. He was appointed as an examiner in more than 25 colleges & universities and guided 15 MD scholars, one Ph.D., and evaluated 36 theses. Prof. Ashraf trained Foreign scholars of Sri Lanka and DD Urdu telecast a series on his work. He presented more than 26 keynote / invited & guest lectures specifically at INSA, New Delhi & Paris, France, etc. He organized more than 25 outreach events in his career. His pupils/ students successfully worked as DG, CCRUM, IRS, Dean, Chairman, Head, etc. He has professional membership in more than 130 organizations, institutions & bodies notably the AMU court, expert on various selection committees, and various Public Service Commission,s and awarded 6 times for his work including S. Radhakrishnan National Teacher's Award -2017.  He has successfully completed a Refresher Course from Jawahar Lal University, New Delhi, University of Delhi, Delhi, and AMU, Aligarh. In addition, he continues to do clinical practice as a Consultant Hifazati Tadabir (Regimental Care) with a reputation in the preventive management of patients with disorders of Obesity, Arthritis, Hepatitis, Depression, Insomnia, Cervical spondylitis, etc. He is supervising routine vaccination as well. He is engaged in immunization in the field by adopting an underserved area of Aligarh District. Health surveys, a Nutritional Assessment program, a Health awareness program, celebrating various health days, organization of teaching & training workshop, and a National conference is best suited to him. He has had administrative & financial control for more than 24 years as chairman of the department, Observer UGC, Nodal Officer WHO, etc. He has the additional qualification of a PG diploma in medical Lab technology & certificate in Food & Nutrition. His range of salary is Rs. 37400-67000, Grade pay - 10000, and Pay Band AL014 at present.
