Prof. S. Sirajuddin Ajmali is an acclaimed teacher and renowned poet. Professor Ajmali is a graduate from University of Kanpur, he completed his M.A., M.Phil and PhD in Urdu from University of Delhi. He is also qualified UGC-JRF in the year 1990. Before joining the AMU as Lecturer in the year 1997, he also served as guest faculty in Zakir Hussain PG College, University of Delhi for two years. He is currently working as Professor in the Department of Urdu. His teaching career spans about 26 years. He has published approximately 70 research papers and attended more than 25 International Seminars, Conferences. He has more than 100 invited talks to his credit, participated in more than 40 radio and television talks. He has published one book and two books are ready for publication. He has chaired a number of sessions in conferences and seminars.

Prof. Ajmali has earned name and fame in Urdu poetry especially ‘Ghazal’ and is a very popular face in National and International Mushairas. He has successfully guided 7 PhDs and 1 M.Phil. he has been awarded ‘Delhi Urdu Academy Topper's Award’, ‘Delhi Urdu Academy Award for Book’ and ‘Shikhar Shree Award’ of Shikhar Sahitya Sansthan and Ibn Sina Academy. He is also a recipient of ‘Harish Chandra Kathpaliya’ Gold Medal for Creative Writing.

Prof. Ajmali has been closely associated with the Literary and Cultural Activities of the AMU campus in different capacities. He has been President of University Debating and Literary for about 15 years and as Mentor for 2 years. Presently, he is serving as Coordinator, Cultural Education Centre, the nucleus of literary and cultural activities of AMU campus.
