Interdisciplinary Brain Research Center
ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY, ALIGARH
Interdisciplinary Brain Research Centre (IBRC), Faculty of Medicine was established in 1976 by Late (Padamshree) Prof. Mahdi Hasan (Dept. of Anatomy, JNMC) and subsequently approved by the Academic and Executive Council of Aligarh Muslim University in 1978 and 1982 respectively. IBRC is the first center in India solely dedicated to brain research and has been actively engaged in research since its inception.
At present Interdisciplinary Brain Research Center(IBRC) has one faculty working as an Assistant Professor. The Coordinator of IBRC is Professor Asif Ali from the Department of Biochemistry, JNMC, AMU, Aligarh. Currently 2 PhD students, one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) working in the project at IBRC. Total Four students have been awarded PhD (Neuroscience) degree since 2013.
IBRC has received research funding from various national agencies like:
(DBT, ICMR, DRDO, DST, UP-CST,UP-DST CSIR) and also International funding agencies like:· Alexander Humoldt foundation of Germany.
· Department of Neuroscience Osak, Bioscience Institution, Japan

SOPs of ImmunohistochemistryNeuroscience is an emerging domain and is evolving very quickly. In the last one decade the importance of Neurosciences research has skyrocketed with greater stress being put on preemptive measures that can be taken to reduce risk of life altering neural disorders. The research approach of Neurosciences is multi-disciplinary and because of this reason many disciplines / departments are collaborating with IBRC like Department of Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Nanotechnology, Pharmacology & Zoology) ,exploring the brain to understand various Neurodegenerative &Neurological diseases. IBRC faculty& research scholars also collaborate with Neurosurgery, Neuropathology & Psychiatry departments.
