Diabetes and Anaemia Screening Health Camp

Department of Ilaj Bit Tadbeer, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh
Muslim University (AMU), organized a Diabetes and Anaemia screening
health camp as a series of health awareness and promotions campaign on 25 July
2023. More than 100 patients were screened for Diabetes and Anaemia under the
banner of “G20” program. Since the theme of the G20 in 2023 program is “One Earth, One Family, and One Future” which encourages
the value of human, animal, plant, and microorganisms and their inter-connectedness
on planet Earth and in the wider universe.
Department of Ilaj Bit Tadbeer mainly focussed on prevention and
management of lifestyle disorders especially metabolic syndrome and blood
disorders by adopting healthy lifestyle and dietary habit. In the Health Camp,
patients, students, and staff of the Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College were screened
for Diabetes and Anaemia.
On this occasion, Prof. Mohd Anwar (Chairman, Department of Ilaj
Bit Tadbeer) stressed that such screening camps would definitely help in the
early diagnosis of Diabetes and this will help in prevention and management of
diabetes and its related complication like nephropathy, neuropathy, retinopathy
and silent MI. Early diagnosis of Anaemia helps in proper development and
growth of human beings. Females are the worst sufferers due to their physiological
and sociocultural reasons.
Prof. Asia Sultana has informed that department is also engaged in
generating data through clinical research on dysglycaemia through dietary intervention
as has been mentioned in traditional wisdom. Dr. Mohammad Shoaib along with the
junior residents counselled the patients and advised mindful eating which
include low glycaemic index and iron-rich diet. Moreover Research participants were also provided with
specific diet on Pre-diabetic trial.
Prof Mohd Anwar, Prof. Asia Sultana, Dr. Mohammad Shoaib, Junior
Residents, interns and other supporting staff of the department remained
present in the camp.
