Course of Study : M.Sc. (Biotechnology) Course Details : Duration Course Code Intake 4 Semesters BYMLA 14 Aligarh Muslim University Guide to Admissions 2020-21 G.2 Qualifying Examination : Bachelors Degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences (those who have studied Chemistry as one of the subsidiary subjects may also be considered eligible), Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, and/or a Bachelors degree in Engineering and Technology (B. Tech.) or Medicine (M.B.B.S.) or B. Pharma with 55% marks or candidates who have successfully completed M.Sc. I year in relevant discipline with 55% marks or who have obtained B.Sc. degree under pattern of education other than 10+2+3. Note: Candidate should refer to ‘Allowed Courses’ under ‘Important Information & Rules’ to ascertain whether s/he is permitted to apply for the course of study. Age Limit : Not more than 27 years as on 01st July in the year of admission. Selection Process : Through Admission Test. Test Paper Details : There shall be one objective type paper of 100 marks comprising 100 questions on Chemistry, Botany, Zoology & Elementary Mathematics. Test Centre(s) : The Admission Test shall be held at Aligarh (U.P.) only.

Objectives to provide an advanced understanding of the core principles and topics of Modern day Biotechnology, and to enable students to acquire a specialized knowledge and understanding of selected aspects by means of a lecture series and a research project. • To equip the students to apply knowledge of molecular mechanisms of cellular processes in living systems including microbes, plants, and higher order organisms to applied aspects. • The laboratory training in addition to theory is included to prepare them for careers in the industry, agriculture, and applied research where biological system is increasingly employed. • Basics and current updates in the areas of Industrial Microbiology, Fermentation Technology, Medical, Agriculture & Environmental Biotechnology are included to train the students and also sensitize them to scope for research. • Will address the increasing need for skilled scientific manpower with an understanding of research ethics involving animals and humans to contribute to application, advancement, and impartment of knowledge in the field of biotechnology globally. • Will enable the students to pursue higher education and research in reputed institute at national and international level.



COURSE.PO :

Will gain and apply knowledge to solve problems related to field of Biotechnology. • WWill be able design, perform experiments, analyze and interpret data for investigating complex problems in biotechnology and related fields. • Will be able to justify societal, health, safety and legal issues and understand his responsibilities in biotechnological practices • Will be able to understand the need and impact of biotechnological solutions on environment and societal context keeping in view need for sustainable solution. • Will have knowledge and understanding of related norms and ethics in Biotechnology product/technique development. • Will be able to undertake any responsibility as an individual and as a team in a multidisciplinary environment. • Acknowledges health, safety and environment (HSE) issues in handling chemicals and biological materials; understands the environmental impacts associated with the activity; performs risk assessments and is familiar with safety instructions in his/her subject area. • Is able to work both independently or in groups on complex projects that require collaboration across disciplines. • Can communicate scientific results to the general public and experts by writing wellstructured reports and contributions for scientific publications and posters, and by oral presentation
