The BALLB (Hons.) Five Years programme was inaugurated at Aligarh Muslim University Centre, Murshidabad on March 06, 2011. The course is recognized by Bar Council of India. The program comprises 10 semesters with a student intake of 60. The syllabus of this course is designed in a way to cover new trends in legal studies with inter-disciplinary approach. Faculty members groom students to improve their communication and debating skills. A great emphasis has been given on the academic orientation along with systematic internship training programme in High Court of the State / Supreme Court of India in the final year of the course.

The students of the Department at AMU Centre, Murshidabad also participate during their winter and summer break for winter and summer internship respectively in the leading law firms of the country.

One of the salient feature of this Department is the Law Society- A body for conducting the co-curricular activities with the teaching officials and the students’ representatives.

The Department is having a well-functioning Moot Court and Legal Aid Clinic. As per the latest UGC Guidelines, Induction Program for newly admitted students is organized in the Department each year. Mr. Alfaz Firdous, the alumnus of the first batch of the Department cleared the West Bengal Judicial Services (Junior Division) in the year 2017. After this, a number of students of the department have also qualified the Judicial Services Examinations of Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Bihar and now serving as the Judicial Officers in the respective states.
