About the Department
Department of Saidla (Unani Pharmacy)" was established in December 2011, aimed to modernize the traditional Unani Pharmaceutical science with advance knowledge and recent technical know-how along with nurturing quality excellence in pharmacy education and research. The department has academia industry interface so able to produce skilled well trained professionals to serve in academia, government sectors, health care management as well as in pharmaceutical industry. The department of Saidla has state of the art facility to impart quality teaching, training and research in terms of smart classrooms, seminar, Laboratories well equipped with the traditional and sophisticated analytical instruments and pharmaceutical machineries along with animal house for experimental studies. The department shall certainly provide a milestone to the Unani System of Medicine by imparting quality education and training in the discipline with the adoption of modern technological advancement. Dawakhana Tibbiya college an industrial unit in the University premises is a good centre for the practical training of the scholars. This may provide good training to the students consequently there would be maximum job opportunities for the passed out students as skilled professionals in rising Herbal / Unani Pharmaceutical Industries.

To produce self-motivated, self-reliant and socially sensitive young pharma professionals for caterting the needs of industry, academia and research.
Future Plans
To create centre of excellence for R&D in the field of Unani pharmaceutical science along with interdisciplinary approach in emerging area of science and technology With focus on industry academia interface.
To apply for the industry sponsored and extramural collaborative research projects.
To establish a model or a small scale Unani pharmacy unit for teaching and training of students.
To organize seminars/ conferences/ CME/workshops in the discipline.
To adapt recent technologies to develop safe and cost effective dosage forms to cater the health need.
To establish government approved central lab facility to assist Unani pharmaceutical industries for quality assurance of raw material and finished products.
To develop a separate section for kushtasazi (Calcinology).
To design and develop the SOPs and GMPs to entrepreneurs of Unani pharmaceutical industry.

Completed / Running Research Project:
A Research Project entitled " Redesigning of Payorin Toothpowder into Toothpaste along with its physico-chemical standardization and HPLC Profile" funded by Dawakhana Tibbiya College has been successfully completed..
A CCRUM funded collaborative research scheme titled as "Redesigning of Dosage form of Majoon Dabidulward & Majoon Flasfa in tablet form along with their Physico-chemical and Pharmacological Evaluation" has been successfully completed by the Department.
CME Programme organized by the department
The Department of Saidla has successfully organized a 6 day Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme for Teachers in October 2018 ( 22 to 27 Oct, 2018).

Seminar/ Conferences/ Workshop
The Department of Saidla has successfully organized a two days National Seminar-cum-Workshop on Modernization of Unani Pharmacy: Need and Importance in November 2015 at Aligarh. The substantial financial assistance for conducting the seminar was provided by NCPUL and the Aligarh Muslim University.
