Teaching of a mandatory paper on Environmental Studies to all graduate students at the Aligarh Muslim University on the direction of honorable Supreme Court. All undergraduate students except from Unani, Medicine and Law faculties are taught the paper of Environmental Studies. Approximately 3000 undergraduate students are taught this paper annually.

The main objective of teaching environmental studies paper to undergraduate students is to create awareness about environmental issues in the country and their role as well as responsibilities in resolution and mitigation of key environmental issues.
