Dr. Sheeraz Kirmani, an accomplished academician, researcher, and technologist with over 18 years of experience in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, renewable energy, electric vehicles, smart grids, and battery management systems. He is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Aligarh Muslim University.
Dr. Kirmani
holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Jamia Millia Islamia in 2014,
M.Tech in Energy Studies from IIT Delhi in
2007, and B.Tech from AMU Aligarh in 2005 . His academic and professional
journey reflects a deep commitment to advancing sustainable energy technologies
and modern electric power systems.
He has authored over 80 international journal publications, more than 50 conference papers, and several book chapters with Springer, Elsevier, and Taylor & Francis. His contributions span areas such as renewable energy integration, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, microgrids, AI-enabled smart grids, solar-wind hybrid systems, and battery state estimation.
Dr. Kirmani has successfully executed major DST, AICTE, and international collaborative projects, including a significant ₹1.26 crore DST project on solar-wind systems for tribal development and 1.20 crore DST-FIST grant as Co-PI and multiple research collaborations with King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia, Eastern Asia University of Science and Technology, Taiwan where he had visited in 2025 as vising scientist. He has also received grants for FDPs, workshops, and GIAN programs.
Dr Kirmani has also visited United Kingdom, Canada, Republic of Bulgaria, Taiwan, Malaysia and Kingdon of Saudia Arabia during various conferences and Academic events.
An active mentor and guide, he has supervised 08 Ph.D. and more than 40 M.Tech scholars worked under him on cutting-edge energy challenges. He is frequently invited to deliver expert lectures across various universities and institutes, and national training programmes, covering topics such as sustainable development, energy auditing, EV technologies, solar PV design, and advanced power systems where he had delivered around 35 invited talks and lectures.
